What is a NOL card?
NOL is a smart card used in Dubai’s public transport system. It enables seamless travel across metro, buses, trams, and even marine transport. It is a contactless, rechargeable card and allows you to not carry cash for anything. There are four types of Nol card:
- A silver card is a reusable card for general passengers with prepaid credit.
- A gold card offers access for gold class cabin in metro and offers priority
- A red card is good for short-term use, preferable for one time travel.
- The blue card for more personal and secure use, such as for students as it provides concession fares.
The cards can be purchased at various authorised locations such as ticket offices, vending machines and through legitimate agents. They can be recharged through RTA’s website or app, or even through the recharge stations based in the city.
The cards are only for individual travelers. They are useful as they offer lower cost, flexibility and balance recovery in case of theft or loss.
