Report Domestic Violence In UAE: Know Support And Shelter Services To Empower Victims

Many people who undergo domestic violence suffer in silence, for several reasons, including the fear of violating social taboos, personal fear of being identified, and fear of losing emotional and financial support from their partner. On the other hand, starting this journey can be simple. The journey often starts with a phone call for response providers to Report domestic violence in UAE .

To report domestic violence in UAE, there are helplines, police stations, and women and child support centers available to assist in various ways. Also, some of them allow for anonymous reporting. However, the UAE has made significant progress in preventing domestic violence, provided support services, and enacted laws for the benefit of victims who can Report domestic violence in UAE .

Moreover, in some instances, victim/s can file a report in person at their nearest police station. There are hotlines provided by the administration of the UAE, such as the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children phone line (800 111), and the EWAA Shelter for Women and Children (800 7283) in Abu Dhabi, where victims can call to receive confidential support to consider their options.

A few organizations provide support services to assist victims who Report domestic violence in UAE . The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children offers support services for immediate protection and safe housing. They also provide rehabilitation services. 

Shamsaha provides 24/7 support services to victims of domestic violence and sexual violence. The services keep victims supported and safe through counseling, legal advice and emergency support. These organizations are committed to helping victims during a difficult time.

Legal Protections And Penalties 

Furthermore, protection programs often grant victims protection orders from the Family Protection Department or the courts. A protection order can restrict the movements and contact of the abuser. Public Prosecution can also issue restraining orders to protect the victim from further harm. Free and low-cost legal services are available for victims of domestic violence through the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

The  legislation has much tougher punishments for domestic violence suspects in order to provide justice to the victims who Report domestic violence in UAE . The fines could be multiplied by up to five times what they were in earlier legislation. To illustrate, the fines for domestic abuse are listed in law as a minimum fine of Dh5,000 up to many maximum fine of Dh50,000.

Resources And Support Services For Victims

  • EWAA Shelter for Women and Children (Abu Dhabi): They aim to give emergency shelter, food and clothing to victims. Apart from this, they also offer counselling to the victims
  • Abu Dhabi Judicial Department: They aim to provide free or low-cost legal assistance to victims of domestic violence.  They also offer information about legal rights and aware victims about the processes as well as representation in court. 
  • Al Ameen Service (Dubai):  This service usually helps in offering crisis support. They generally provide referral services for victims of domestic violence.  

 Thus with proper assistance and awareness the victim can certainly live in safe and confidential environment and can share their experiences and receive support and in case of emergency can Report domestic abuse in UAE.
