September 29, 2025, Dubai, UAE: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is ready to launch the pilot phase of the Unified GCC Visa in the final quarter of 2025. This visa is expected to make travel easier across all GCC countries, offering a Schengen-style experience for tourists in the region. The Unified GCC Visa will allow visitors to explore the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait without needing separate permits for each country. Travel and tourism experts believe this move will transform the tourism landscape in the Gulf.

What is the Unified GCC Visa?

The Unified GCC Visa is a new initiative designed to increase tourism within the Gulf region. This permit allows tourists to use one visa and travel across six nations of the GCC – the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait.

The idea is simple: make travel easier and attract more visitors. The Unified GCC Visa was approved in June 2025 and is now waiting for full implementation. While the cost and duration of the Unified GCC Visa are still not announced, industry leaders believe it will encourage more foreigners to visit multiple countries during their trip.

Tourism experts share that the Unified GCC Visa will help boost religious and leisure travel within Gulf borders. The region is known for its rich culture, beautiful landscapes, and modern attractions. With the Unified GCC Visa, families and solo travelers can discover new places without long paperwork or separate visa applications. Executives expect this move to create new jobs and give a strong boost to the GDP as more tourists visit the Gulf.

What Does This Mean for the UAE?

The UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, stated that the country will receive many benefits from the Unified GCC Visa. The UAE and Saudi Arabia are expected to attract the most travelers under the new system. Last year, the UAE welcomed 3.3 million visitors from other GCC countries, making up 11 percent of hotel guests. Saudi Arabia led in tourist arrivals, followed by Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.

The Unified GCC Visa is a major step toward stronger regional connection and growth. By mid-September 2025, the UAE had issued more than 39,500 commercial licenses in tourism and related sectors, showing a 275 percent increase compared to the same period in 2020. This growth proves that the new visa will help drive business and tourism activity even further.

Travel industry leaders say the Unified GCC Visa will help both business and leisure travelers. It will offer easy movement between Gulf nations for events, holidays, and religious visits. The Gulf is now one of the most attractive destinations for travelers, and the Unified GCC Visa will make it much easier to explore all six countries in one trip.

The Unified GCC Visa is expected to be a game-changer for Gulf tourism and the wider economy. As the region prepares for the launch, travelers can look forward to a smoother experience and more opportunities to enjoy the culture and sights of the GCC.
