October 19, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The all new Trackless Tram in Dubai creates the city’s latest leap towards a sustainable technology future. Designed to connect very smoothly with the Dubai Metro, this tram is self-driving electric tram that aims to make travel faster, greener, and easier for millions of residents and even visitors. The project highlightes Dubai’s broader goal of turning 25% of its transports into smart, driverless and automated systems by 2030 and it’s already making up to be one of the most exciting developments.

Transforming Public Transport for the Future

The New Trackless Tram in Dubai is more than just another transport project, it’s a glimpse into how the city is reimagining it’s urban movement. Unlike traditional trams, this system does not require steel tracks or overhead wires. Instead, it runs on rubber tyres and follows a “virtual tracks” powered by advanced navigation technologies such as GPS and optical sensors. This makes it both flexible and cost-efficient, as it can move seamlessly through existing city roads without major construction work.

Another more efficient element is that new Trackless Tram in Dubai is connected to the Dubai Metro, allowing passengers to switch easily between different modes of transport. The tram will have fixed routes just like buses, but each unit can carry over 300 passengers, that is three times more than an average bus, that means less traffic but easier travel.

Designed for Speed, Comfort, and Sustainability

The New Trackless Tram in Dubai has been made with sustainability and efficiency as each tram will have three carriages and run on battery power, capable of covering up to 100km with a single charge. With an operating speed of up to 60 km/h and a top speed of 70 km/h, it promises faster travel compared to existing systems.

As the system doesn’t need metal tracks, it leaves behind a much smaller environmental footprint. Construction cost is very less, and maintenance is easier, making it a long-term eco-friendly choice for the city. New Trackless Tram in Dubai will also run in fixed lanes, that’ll help reduce traffic and ensuring safety for everyone. Its quiet electric engines will lower noise pollution in residential areas.

A Step Ahead Toward Achieving Dubai’s 2030 Vision

The New Trackless Tram in Dubai is a great initiative to align with the city’s vision of making a smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport network. The project supports the mission of making one of every four trips in Dubai driverless. Beyond the environmental benefits that this initiative offers, it also outshines Dubai’s growing focus on digital innovation and smart mobility solutions that enhance daily life for its people.

Professionals claim the tram will play a crucial role in solving issues like road traffic, especially in major high-traffic areas. With it’s large passenger capacity, real-time monitors, and driverless technology, it’s going to maximum efficiency and reliability. As the system grows, it’s expected to spread over more locations, linking key neighbourhoods and tourist destinations with other major transport systems like metro, all across Dubai.
