November 18, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: December has transformed into the UAE’s busiest travel season, thanks to an extended one-month holiday in the UAE schools that has families rushing to book international getaways. The winter holiday of this year, which goes through the later months of November to the end of December, has spawned unprecedented demand in the travel packages, with tourism operators registering bookings of up to 70 per cent as compared to the past years.

How the Long Break Transformed Everything for a One-month Holiday in the UAE Schools

The introduction of a one-month holiday in the UAE schools has fundamentally altered the country’s travel landscape. In the past, the December holidays only took two to three weeks, constraining the period during which families could have a vacation.

The four weeks off are now upon us, and the residents of the UAE are considering taking up ambitious international trips to far-off places unattainable during shorter school holidays.

Travel agencies across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other emirates report that the one-month holiday in the UAE schools has shifted peak season dynamics entirely. Family members are not in a hurry to have a quick trip somewhere during a weekend, but rather are investing in long trips to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

This change has been leading to the addition of more flights by airlines and hotels, including special long-stay packages that target UAE travellers.

The Trends in booking and popular destinations

The one-month holiday in the UAE schools has made previously less-accessible destinations suddenly viable. Emirati visitors are increasing tremendously in European markets in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during winter periods. The Asian destinations of Thailand, Japan, and the Maldives have reported that the UAE bookings have increased twofold over this December.

Tour operators emphasise that the one-month holiday in the UAE schools has created a new demographic of travellers willing to spend more on premium experiences. The increased use of luxury resorts, cruise packages multi-country tours has become very popular as families are able to now afford the cost as long as they have time to spend on vacation.

Travel experts note that the one-month holiday in the UAE schools has also boosted domestic tourism. In Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Abu Dhabi, staycations in five-star resorts are blossoming due to the shorter term families prefer in the longer holiday.

Economic Effect and Industry Reaction

The one-month holiday in the UAE represents a significant economic opportunity for the tourism sector. According to estimates by industry analysts, the UAE residents spend more than AED 2 billion on travelling throughout this long period in December. This influx has resulted in the hospitality companies designing specialised packages and offers that take special attention to this market segment.

Airlines have responded to the one-month holiday in the UAE by introducing flexible ticketing options and family-friendly pricing structures. Emirates, Etihad, and other airways are now offering special packages of travelling during December that can seamlessly fit the one-month vacation time so that the families can afford to travel abroad.

Planning Ahead: The New December Reality

With the one-month holiday in the UAE now established as an annual tradition, travel experts advise families to book their December vacations at least six months in advance. Tourists in demand and high-quality hotels are often sold out at a very early stage, and a 30- 40 per cent discount on early reservations can be saved over last-minute booking.

The one-month holiday in the UAE has also influenced travel patterns beyond December, with many families now saving their vacation budgets specifically for this extended winter break rather than spreading trips throughout the year. This amalgamation has seen December being the unchallenged peak travel season in the UAE, even more than the traditional summer holiday period, in the outbound travel volume and expenditures.
