CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency in the RTA Hussain Al Banna stated that the authority is all geared up to facilitate traffic and transport activities including non-stop Dubai metro, during the celebrations especially around Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai areas in consultation with the Events Security Committee and strategic partners.

Controlled Road Closures To Avoid Congestion

The road blocks in the areas around large events will start at 4 pm New Year’s Eve and will increase progressively up until 11 pm to avoid congestion and security of the people. The roads that have been affected are Al Asayel Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, Lower and Upper Financial Centre Roads, Al Mustaqbal Street, Al Sukook Street, and Sheikh Zayed Road. With the use of the non-stop Dubai metro, people can commute to different places.

The traffic lights in the region will be centrally managed and smart variable message boards will communicate real time information on road closures and alternative routes to the motorists. The new year’s eve safety measures will also increase the level of pedestrian safety in dealing with large crowds during the events.

Measures Of Coordinated Management And Support

To accommodate the long-haul transport, over 5,500 RTA workers will be on the field, as well as ten control centres and 26 traffic diversion cars will be located at priority points. Parking capacity within the proximity of Downtown Dubai is also increased and it has approximately up to 20,000 parking spaces around the Burj Khalifa area and 8,000 parking spaces in the metro stations with non-stop Dubai metro and overflow parking at areas like Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf.

In a bid to bolster the transport services, the number of taxis amounting to over 14,000, limousine and luxury transport service vehicles totaling over 18,000 and buses numbering more than 1,300 have been put in place to assist in managing the transport demand in the city on the new year’s eve.

Increasing Dependence On Transportation: The Nonstop Dubai Metro

According to RTA data, the number of clients taking public transport during the New Year’s Eve is continuously increasing over the years – in 2025, more than 2.5 million passengers will be registered, which is 2.29 million in 2024, indicating an increase in the use of integrated transit within the city during large-scale celebrations.

The officials have encouraged locals and tourists to book their trips upfront, utilize the long non-stop Dubai Metro with no postponed services and to anticipate additional transit and commuting time since the city is offering New Year Ves Eve 2026 with a wide transport and traffic strategy.

Advice For Commuters

People who reside in Dubai or intend to visit the city during the New Year’s Eve are advised to:

  • Travel via the non-stop Dubai Metro as opposed to personal cars.
  • Reach early into party areas.
  • Adhere to RTA guidelines and news.
  • Preparation of station crowd control.
