Dubai- UAE: It was a great step in scientific collaboration of the world and futuristic dialogue as the World Laureates Summit, the largest international event among Nobel Prize and winners of other scientific awards, was officially opened in Dubai. The World Laureates Summit is considered one of the most renowned scientific meetings in the world – the place where discovery meets discussion and where knowledge determines action on a global basis. It is not only trying to talk about the future of science – but also trying to create it by uniting the brightest minds of the world.
Historic Opening Ceremony
The inauguration of the World Laureates Summit was a responsibility of the president of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his vice president His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, on the first day of the World Laureates Summit in Dubai, February 1, 2026. The winners of other major international prizes, Nobel laureates, and more than 100 scientists, heads of the world research centers come to the event.
Virtually all other senior leaders in the UAE who were in attendance were the Vice President and the Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Crossover Of Science, Policy And Global Thought
The World Laureates Summit is a three-day event coinciding with the World Governments Summit 2026 that starts on 3 February. On 3 February, there will be a joint session day when scientific leaders and heads of state will be presented with ministers and international organisations to connect scientific research and global policy dialogue.
The summit is an international dialogue and long-term strategic thinking venue and therefore, multidisciplinary cooperation of solving urgent global issues of economic, social and political pressures and urgent need of innovative solutions.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of scientists in determining the future and emphasized that the investment in knowledge and scientific research is a major factor in overcoming the challenges in the world. He used the World Laureates Summit as an indicator of the UAE being able to build a robust scientific ecosystem that would enhance the quality of life and result in sustainable prosperity.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid insisted on the idea that science is the actual treasure of the nations and UAE continues to work in order to prove itself as the scientific and knowledge centre in the world. He believed that the future of the nation can be constructed through the appeal to the creative minds and talent and will help in the creation of sustainable development.
International Interaction And Science Of Cooperation
Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and World Governments Summit, emphasized that the UAE is a breeding place of thought leaders of the world and applauded the vision and contribution of the nation to scientists. Nobel Laureate and President of the World Laureates Association, Professor Roger Kornberg called the World Laureates Summit, the most diverse and wide-ranging ever, bringing science nearer to government and industry so that scientific views can inform policy and decision-making.
Wang Hou, an Executive Director of the World Laureates Association, highlighted the fact that the UAE values science and considers knowledge to be a source of progress. He explained that the peak is the turning point of the international initiative to create a common contribution in the development of modern science and the formation of human evolution.

Summit Goals And Agenda
The World Laureates Summit in association with the World Governments Summit and the World Laureates Association is meant to drive intensive cooperation within the fields of science and decision making in the various fields.
It counts among its participants Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Wolf Prize, Lasker Award, Fields Medal, and Breakthrough Prize recipients among others. There is also debating the capacity of fundamental sciences to guide governance, propel social development, and use the new technologies to emerge, including artificial intelligence and biotechnology, in a responsible manner.
