CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme: Board outlines grading formula for affected students as exams are canceled across several Gulf countries due to the US-Israel-Iran conflict
Background of Exam Cancellation
Following conflict tied to the US-Israel-Iran, a new evaluation plan for CBSE Class 12 has been released. In areas – Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, exams set between March 16, and April 10 were cancelled by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for both Class 10th and 12th. This move came after multiple postponements due to safety concerns.
Scheme for Completed Examinations
Students who have already taken exams in certain subjects will have their final results based on their genuine performance, as per the scheme. The marks obtained in completed papers will not change, ensuring fairness and stability, confirmed the board.

Evaluation Basis for Pending Subjects
For subjects where exams were not held, the CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme gives a clear evaluation process. For theory subjects, such as Mathematics, English, History, and Biology (which are of 70 or 80 marks), schools must give marks from 3 internal assessments: quarterly exams, half-yearly exams, and pre-board exams. The highest marks from these will be used for final grading.
Skill-Based Subjects: Assessment
According to CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme, in skill-based subjects like Information Technology, Tourism, and Design—where theory marks range from 30 to 60—the CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme states that only the pre-board exam score will be considered. If a student missed the pre-board exam, the most recent available test score will be used for evaluation.
Result Submission Timeline and Guidelines
Schools should calculate and upload student marks between April 6 and April 13 using the official CBSE platform. According to the CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme, once the marks are submitted, no changes will be allowed. The board has stressed the importance of fair and precise evaluation by schools.

Choice for Re-Examination
The assessment scheme includes an option of re-exam. Students who are not happy with their results may have the chance to give new exams, but only if situation get better. If these exams are held, the marks scored will be final.
Final Result Declaration
Results for affected students will be announced along the overall CBSE Class 12 results. The CBSE Class 12 assessment scheme seeks to ensure that no student faces disadvantages due to circumstances outside their control while maintaining academic integrity during this uncertain time.
