June 11, 2025, Dubai, UAE- The Strawberry Moon in UAE is forecast to illuminate the night sky on June 11, 2025. This is a rare event and the last full Moon in the spring; it will not set that low until 2043. People from all over UAE are thrilled to witness this ever-so-rare view that promises to be a breathtaking treat for all sky watchers.

What’s a Strawberry Moon?

The full Moon occurring in June is addressed by the name Strawberry Moon. Contrary to its name, the Strawberry Moon does not really exhibit any pink or red shade. Usually, it turns pale yellow or orange, mostly when it is low near the horizon. This particular coloration is because of the Earth’s atmospheric disruption of light as the Moon rises and sets.

This time, the Strawberry Moon in UAE has a special charm. A rare event called the Great Lunar Standstill is associated with this phenomenon. This happens just once every 18.6 years. At this special time, the Moon will rise and set at its most extreme points on the horizon. The full Moon that occurs at the time of the Strawberry Moon will then be the lowest full Moon seen in the Northern Hemisphere, including the UAE, until 2043. So the Moon will linger low till it is seen as considerably larger and more yellow than usual.

Best Views of the Strawberry Moon in UAE

No special kinds of equipment are necessary to spot the Strawberry Moon in the UAE. On June 11, the Moon will moonrise at 7:32 pm and will set at 5:55 am of June 12. Stepping outside and glancing toward the eastern horizon a few minutes past moonrise is probably the best vantage point to view this formation.

Open spaces provide the ultimate viewing opportunity. Whereas beachfronts, deserts, and high elevations are considered ideal for viewing the Strawberry Moon in the UAE, such fine viewing can equally be enjoyed from home if one has a comfortable view of the East sky. You can also take bins or use a telescope to make the viewing more interesting but not really necessary. Observing this fairly simple event gives a subtle connection to the world around us.

Why Not Until 2043?

This year, Strawberry Moon sees a rarity in the UAE because a major lunar standstill is taking place. It occurs only once every 18.6 years. The Moon’s orbit is inclined about 5.1 degrees with respect to the Earth-Sun plane. At the same time, the Earth’s axis is inclined some 23.4 degrees. In a major standstill, these tilts act in concert to position the Moon to rise and set at the extremities. Thus, either the Moon will be starkly low in the sky or starkly high.

It is to be noted that within the Northern Hemisphere and, from that, also the UAE, this Strawberry Moon will remain unhindered from attaining its extremities only until the year 2043, with exactly the opposite tale from the Southern Hemisphere: highest at this month and its lowest full Moon in December.

The Science Behind the Strawberry Moon

Viewed through the romantic prism, the Strawberry Moon presents itself as something to be looked at and admired, with the artistically metaphoric reminder of the tumultuous dance between Earth and Moon. The Moon orbits Earth in an ellipse rather than a circle. Because of this slight inclination in its orbit, the Moon does not always rise from the same point or set in the same location.

Another movement is generated because of the tilt of the Earth’s axis. These two tilts, when aligned in a period known as the major lunar standstill, create actual extremes in the Moon’s path across the sky. This would either cause it to seem lower than usual or higher than usual, depending on your relative position in the world.

Both astronomers and sky watchers greatly anticipate these occasions. They provide a window to observe the motion of the Moon and to deepen the understanding of our place within this solar system. The Strawberry Moon is the last reflection of the ancient ways when times long ago, full Moons were watched and named by human beings.
