Dubai, April 12, 2025: DP World has commenced the construction of Bharat Mart in Dubai, a gigantic shopping destination aimed at enhancing bilateral trade between India and the UAE. The mega facility, expected Bharat Mart Dubai opening date is by the end of 2026, will offer Indian manufacturers and exporters an international-level platform to tap global markets. Situated in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Bharat Mart will be the most important source of Indian products that will enable trade and re-export of goods in the fast-growth markets of the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.

A Game-Changer for Indian Businesses

Bharat Mart in Dubai will cover a vast 2.7 million square feet, of which the first phase will be 1.3 million square feet. The facility will have 1,500 showrooms for consumers as well as wholesale customers, in excess of 700,000 square feet of warehousing space, light industrial units, office space, and meeting facilities. Special facilities for women enterprises from India further reinforce its inclusivity.

The site of the marketplace in JAFZA provides efficient multimodal logistics solutions for Indian exporters. Located 11 kilometres from Jebel Ali Port and 15 kilometres from Al Maktoum International Airport, Bharat Mart in Dubai provides access to over 150 maritime points of call and aviation links with over 300 global cities. This placement minimizes shipping time and costs, making exporting simpler for Indian businesses.

Bharat Mart takes a cue from successful ventures like the Dubai-based Dragon Mart, but with an exclusive focus on Indian products. It will complement government programs like “Make in India” and the UAE’s D33 agenda by making it possible for Indian SMEs (small and medium enterprises) to promote their products on a global platform. The marketplace will be a key driver for the lofty target of $100 billion of India-UAE non-oil bilateral trade by 2030.

Benefits of Bharat Mart for Trade Relations

Bharat Mart’s setup occurs when the bilateral trade between India and the UAE has never been stronger. Non-oil trade between the two countries stood at $51.4 billion in 2022 alone, where 87% of that value came from Dubai. Bharat Mart will further spur that by giving Indian traders a single platform for trading locally in the UAE and exporting products around the world.

Indian businesses will gain from lower trade restrictions under the 2022 CEPA between India and the UAE. CEPA has already phased out more than 10,000 products and services, opening up new avenues for the manufacturing, food and beverages, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors. Bharat Mart in Dubai fits right into these with its developed infrastructure for logistics that makes access to global markets convenient.

Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO of DP World GCC, underscored Bharat Mart’s function of enabling Indian SMEs: “India remains one of the top five trading partners of the UAE. Bharat Mart will equip Indian manufacturers with an efficient platform for exporting their cargo with ease and cement our position as a leading trade gateway.”

Conclusion

Bharat Mart in Dubai marks an important milestone towards the development of economic relations between India and the UAE. With state-of-the-art facilities and strategic connectivity through JAFZA’s platform, Bharat Mart gives Indian exporters unprecedented opportunities for global expansion. With its inclusivity and efficiency focus, Bharat Mart in Dubai will transform international trade dynamics for Indian businesses.

The venture showcases Dubai’s position as a trade gateway while promoting sustainable development for both economies. For Indian SMEs that plan to expand their businesses internationally, Bharat Mart provides the perfect platform to grow in competitive global markets.
