Dubai, August 22, 2025: For more than a decade, the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record has been a shining symbol of Dubai’s ambition. Tourists from every corner of the world fly in just to stand at its base, crane their necks upward, and whisper in awe: “This really is the world’s tallest building.”

But like all records, this one too may soon be broken. Across the border in Saudi Arabia, two massive projects are rising on the horizon. If completed, they could change the history and beat the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record books forever with the world’s tallest building and take away the crown that Dubai has proudly worn since 2010.

A Tower Twice the Size of Burj Khalifa

Imagine looking up at a skyscraper so tall it seems endless. That is exactly what Saudi Arabia’s proposed Rise Tower promises. Planned for Riyadh, the design shows a breathtaking 2,000-metre structure, nearly twice as high as the Burj Khalifa.

With 678 floors packed with luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, sky-view offices, and decks that make you feel like you’re floating above the clouds, Rise Tower is more than just a building. It’s part of a futuristic city being planned over 300 square kilometres.

If completed, this record-breaking project would push past the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record and set a new benchmark for the world’s tallest building.

Jeddah Tower: A Long-Awaited Rival

While Rise Tower captures headlines, another Saudi project has quietly been inching forward for years. The Jeddah Tower, once called the Kingdom Tower, has had a rocky journey, with construction delays, funding challenges, and long pauses.

But now, things are moving again. With 63 floors already built and work restarting, the tower is expected to soar past 1,000 metres, with some estimates suggesting it could reach 1.5 kilometres high.

When finished, it will host apartments, a luxury hotel, offices, and an observation deck with sweeping views of the Red Sea. Like its Riyadh counterpart, it too could soon claim the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record, standing tall as the world’s tallest building.

Burj Khalifa: Still Dubai’s Pride

Despite the growing competition, the Burj Khalifa is still unmatched in charm. Designed by architect Adrian Smith, the same man behind Jeddah Tower, it has been more than just a building, it has been Dubai’s beating heart.

At night, its lights shines like a jewel. On New Year’s Eve, fireworks climb its spire, watched by millions around the world. Inside, visitors sip coffee on sky-high floors, take photos at the observation deck and carry memories with them.

Even if some other tower takes away the world’s tallest building title, the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record will carry deep meaning forever. It was the tower that showed the world what Dubai could achieve, and it remains a symbol of modern history.

Why Build Higher and Higher?

You might wonder: why does it matter who has the world’s tallest building? For cities, it is about more than height. It is about ambition, pride, and making a big statement to the world.

Dubai had Burj Khalifa tallest tower record to show it was a global hub of innovation and luxury but Saudi Arabia now sees Rise Tower and Jeddah Tower as part of its national transformation, bringing more tourism, investment, and global attention.

There’s also the human spirit behind it. To build it taller, architects and engineers must invent some sort of new materials, design safer structures to ensure no future damage, and push the boundaries of imagination. Every step towards breaking the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record is also one of the step forward to move ahead in science and technology.

The Future of the Skyline

For now, the Burj Khalifa continues to rule the skies as the world’s tallest building, its crown still safe as construction continues in Saudi Arabia. Tourists will keep visiting, families will keep posing for photos, and Dubai will keep celebrating the tower that transformed its skyline forever.

Burj Khalifa to Lose Title as World’s Tallest Building

Whether or not the Burj Khalifa tallest tower record remains, one thing is certain, the dream to reach higher will never stop. These towers are more than glass and steel. They are reminders that there is no limit to human imagination.
