Dubai International Airport (DXB) has entered a period of restricted operations which causes ongoing modifications to aviation operations because of current developments in the region. International airlines currently provide essential service updates while Emirates Airways and Flydubai maintain their respective operational schedules at DXB. The most important travel information about Dubai Airport travel update which travelers need to know states that travelers should avoid visiting the airport until they possess both a confirmed booking and airline contact.

European Carriers: Extended Suspensions

Dubai Airport Travel Update: 11 Major Airlines Issue Latest Advice for DXB Passengers

European Carriers present their flight operations reports to the public because of their ongoing flight suspensions, which they have extended. Multiple European airlines have paused their flight operations while they assess the safety conditions of regional airspace. 

  • Air France: It has scheduled flight operations from Dubai to all destinations to be suspended until March 12. The return flight scheduled for Friday, March 13, has been cancelled. 
  • KLM: KLM has extended its suspension period which now prohibits all flights to Dubai until Saturday, March 28. Passengers can rebook for free or request a full refund via the ‘My Trip’ portal. 
  • British Airways: It operates flights at a limited capacity because of severe operational disruptions. The airline has suspended all flights to Dubai (DXB), Amman, Bahrain, Doha, and Tel Aviv until the end of March. The airline operates flights to Abu Dhabi, which will remain suspended until the end of this year. On March 11 and 12, passengers can find limited seats for repatriation from Muscat to London. 
  • Lufthansa: Lufthansa has cancelled all its scheduled flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi until March 15. The airline has established a refund system that enables ticket holders to request refunds for tickets purchased on or before March 1 until March 26. 

Asian and Indian Subcontinent Carriers: Gradual Resumptions

Indian and Chinese airlines operate their flights using both scheduled and unscheduled flight services to assist passengers who require assistance.

  • Air India & Air India Express: On Wednesday, March 11, the group operates 36 non-scheduled flights to the UAE from Delhi and Mumbai through Air India Express, which connects Dubai to Bengaluru.
  • IndiGo: The airline is gradually rebuilding its network, operating three routes between DXB and Delhi today, March 11.
  • China Southern Airlines: The airline resumed selected routes from Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Dubai between March 8 and March 11. The official website provides travelers with real-time information about aircraft and slot availability.
  • Philippine Airlines: The flights between Manila and Dubai, which operate as PR 658/659, will stop between Wednesday, March 11, and Sunday, March 15.

Regional and US Operators

  • Qatar Airways: Qatar Airways maintains operations between the United States and its regional networks. Qatar Airways requires ongoing suspension of its Dubai commercial operations. The airline provides two free date modifications to its customers who purchased tickets until March 22, or customers can choose to receive a full ticket refund.
  • Turkish Airlines: All flight operations from Turkey to Dubai which include AJet and Pegasus services have been suspended by Turkish Airlines until Friday March 13 at midnight. Passengers can request refunds or free changes until May 10.
  • United Airlines: It allows travelers who bought tickets before February 28 and plan to fly between March 31 to reschedule their flights without incurring any costs or fare differences.

Important Safety Note

On the morning of Wednesday, March 11, authorities addressed an incident involving two drones that fell in the vicinity of DXB. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that air traffic returned to normal operations shortly after, but the situation continued to change according to their statement. Always verify your specific flight status through verified airline channels before leaving your home or hotel.
