August 20, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: Over 3,000 Emirati families received Dubai Housing Support assistance worth Dh1.7 billion in the first half of 2025, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) revealed, reinforcing Dubai’s push to ensure citizens have secure, affordable homes amid rapid city growth.

But what does this investment achieve? It’s about more than just money; it’s about helping families settle down, grow, and thrive in a fast-changing city. The Dubai Housing Support Package plays a central role in delivering these targeted housing solutions.

Who Benefits and How?

Most of the funding around Dh1.18 billion was funnelled into 1,390 housing schemes designed to help people build new houses, fix up old ones, or simply buy their place. Nearly a thousand families also got direct grants totalling Dh40 million to ease the tough costs that come with construction or home repairs.

Then there are the land grants associated with the Dubai Housing Support Package. Almost 700 families received plots in carefully planned neighbourhoods. Think of these as the foundations for entire communities where kids can run free and families can put down roots, not just isolated homes in the middle of nowhere.

Leadership Pushing for Change

This programme reflects the priorities laid out by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, together with guidance from Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.

Mohammed Hassan Al Shehhi, Acting CEO of MBRHE, explains that the establishment carefully listens to its citizens: “Our goal is to match housing solutions closely with the differing needs of families. Young couples need flexibility and affordability; older families prioritise space and stability. We’re working to deliver both without delay through the Dubai Housing Support Package.”

This leadership approach prioritises citizen engagement and responsiveness, ensuring that housing policies remain relevant and impactful.

Bigger Picture: Part of Dubai’s Vision

Housing doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Dubai’s housing programmes are embedded, including the Dubai Housing Support Package, within the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Social Agenda 33, which set out to create not just cities but vibrant, sustainable communities.

By tying housing allocations to such comprehensive frameworks, Dubai is investing in a future where neighbourhoods are walkable, green, and inclusive. This means homes provided by the Dubai Housing Support Package are close to mosques, cmosques, clinics, parks, and schools, creating environments where families can live full, balanced lives, rather than isolated housing blocks.

These frameworks guide urban growth with an eye on social integration and environmental sustainability, key priorities in a city facing intense growth pressures.  The Dubai Housing Support Package acts as a cornerstone of this urban strategy, ensuring housing supports these wider goals.

Social and Economic Waves

Health improves too when families aren’t forced to live in overcrowded or poorly maintained conditions. Mental well-being is supported by community stability, neighbours who know and trust each other, and the simple comfort of feeling truly “at home.”

Economic benefits ripple through the city as well.  House construction and renovations supported by the Dubai Housing Support Package create thousands of jobs for contractors, electricians, plumbers, and a wide network of suppliers. Local businesses grow and diversify, fueling a robust, resilient economy.

In this way, investing in housing through the Dubai Housing Support Package is investing in the health and prosperity of Dubai’s society at large.

What Lies Ahead?

MBRHE is also improving digital systems to make household applications quicker and easier. They’re working with private developers and banks to craft new housing options, especially for younger Emiratis looking for affordable choices that suit modern lifestyles.

More importantly, the MBRHE is ramping up collaboration with private developers and financial institutions to diversify housing options through the Dubai Housing Support Package, tailoring homes to the evolving lifestyles and budgets of younger generations, who might prefer smaller, more affordable units closer to city centres.

This forward-looking strategy ensures that housing support remains adaptable, inclusive, and grounded in real community needs, securing the promise that Emiratis will continue to thrive in the city’s vibrant future. Because in the end, this isn’t just about today, the Dubai Housing Support Package is about laying down foundations for tomorrow.
