Dubai New Speed Limits From 1 November: The Five Streets to Watch

Dubai New Speed Limits From 1 November: The Five Streets

Three roads will become faster, two will become slower, and the cameras will be set to correspond.

A word of advice for those who drive in Dubai: starting on Sunday, 1 November 2026, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Police are going to be altering the speed limits on five streets, in each direction.

The new speed limits in Dubai aren’t part of a citywide revision, but they are the type of change that can catch people who are used to their regular commute. Below is the full list so that your next trip behind the wheel is not a surprise.

The Roads Getting a Little Faster

Three streets are going up:

  • The speed limit on Al Asayel Street in Dubai is increasing from 60 to 80 km/h, between Oud Maitha Street and Al Meydan Street.
  • The speed limit on Al Mustaqbal Street in Dubai is increasing from 60 to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street.
  • The speed limits on Latifa bint Hamdan Street in Dubai are increasing from 60 to 70 km/h between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Al Asayel Street sees the greatest increase, by exactly 20 km/h. You will notice the difference if it’s one of your daily routes.

The Roads Slowing Down

Two streets are going the other way, and these are the ones to watch:

  • The speed limit on Al Rebat Street in Dubai is being reduced from 100 to 90 km/h between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
  • The speed limit on Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street in Dubai is being reduced from 80 to 70 km/h, between Dubai Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street.

People who are driving on a long and well-known road usually continue to use the old figure just out of habit, and that is the simplest way of being caught.

Why the Change?

The RTA says that the changes are in line with the 2026 amendments to the Dubai Speed Management Manual, which were the result of an engineering study carried out with the help of an international consultant.

The objectives mentioned are to improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and set speed limits that correspond to each particular road. Among the factors that underlie the new speed limits in Dubai are traffic volumes, the design speeds of the roads, patterns of urban development, the actual speeds at which vehicles are travelling, levels of pedestrian activity, and the presence of important nearby facilities.

The RTA also refers to these changes as part of its routine speed limit reviews.

Signs and Cameras

New signs will be installed on the sections that have been affected. The RTA states that the speed cameras will have their programming changed to match the new speed limits. Therefore, the new speed limits in Dubai are not merely a figure on a road sign; they also determine when the radar will detect you.

Moreover, Gulf News cautions that the fact that there is a difference between the posted speed limit and the radar’s trigger point does not mean that you are allowed to exceed the limit.

A Few Easy Tips

None of this is hard to handle, but a little prep helps:

See whether any of the five streets figure on your usual route.

Instead, pay attention to the new signs and don’t depend on your memory, particularly on Al Rebat Street and on Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street.

It should be remembered that the new speed limits in Dubai apply only to the sections mentioned above, and the limit could change once more as you leave them.

Make sure to let your friends and family members who drive the same routes know.

The Takeaway

Small changes can lead to big habits. The new speed limits in Dubai are easy to adhere to if you know what they are but costly if you don’t.

So spend a minute looking at the signs on 1 November and take the number you see rather than the one you remember to be the one that applies.
