These cannons, which date back to the 1960s, serve as a nostalgic reminder of a time before digital clocks and mobile apps. Every evening at sunset, the ceremonial firing brings communities together, drawing crowds of residents and tourists eager to witness this historic spectacle firsthand.

Official 2026 Iftar Cannons Locations

Dubai Police typically deploy both fixed cannons and “mobile” units that travel to various neighborhoods. The primary Iftar Cannons Locations for this year include:

A Timeless Tradition in a Modern City

The presence of the Iftar Cannons Locations across the city ensures that the spirit of Ramadan is felt in every corner of the emirate. Each cannon is manned by four officers and can be heard from several kilometers away. While modern technology tells us exactly when to break the fast, the physical sound of the cannon provides a sense of unity and cultural pride that a phone notification simply cannot match.

Visiting one of the Iftar Cannons Locations is a must-do activity for families during the Holy Month. It is common to see officers handing out Iftar meals to those gathered, further embodying the spirit of giving. If you plan to visit, it is recommended to arrive at least 30 minutes before sunset to secure a good viewing spot, as these areas become very busy just before the Maghrib prayer.
