Most people who lose their bags at the airport never get to see it again. Most people are not a Gulf national who lost his bag at Dubai International Airport on 14 June. Dubai Police found his bag, checked what was inside and returned it to him afterwards.
The whole thing happened faster than most people can file an insurance claim. The bag, reportedly, held three luxury watches worth AED 103,880 in total, plus a laptop and a tablet. The terminal 1 Dubai Police lost and found returned it all untouched.
What Happened at the Airport?
The traveller misplaced the bag in the arrivals area at Dubai International Airport (DXB) Terminal 1. Soon, he reported it to the Lost & Found Office at the arrivals area. Afterwards, one step took place and everything fell into place.
Colonel Abdullah Faisal Al Dosari, Director of DXB Terminal 1 Security, said the operations room kicked into full gear and commenced a coordinated response as soon as the report was received. Officers walked the entire path of the traveller in the terminal.
They then sent a foot patrol team to search the arrivals hall. As a result, the team found the bag. Every single item inside was exactly where it should be.
What Dubai Police Found Inside?
Inside the bag, officers confirmed three luxury watches worth over AED 103,880, alongside the traveller’s laptop and tablet. Nothing was missing. Also, every item was safe. They did a quick legal check to make sure they were the owners and then gave everything back to the owner.
Dubai police acted fast. The owner praised the team’s speed, professionalism, and commitment to keep people’s belongings safe.

Not the First Time This Month
This is not a one-off. Dubai Police has built a track record of fast recoveries at DXB in recent weeks. During May, the same Terminal 1 team was able to trace and return a lost handbag worth silver bars worth around AED 2 million. It belonged to an Asian passenger. The operations room activated the search protocol and returned the bag. They sent multiple foot patrols across the terminal.
Dubai Police, which last week tracked a black bag found in an open area of Terminal 1 before it was returned to an Arab traveller, just before her flight to Saudi Arabia lifted off, was previously told of the discovery of USD 20,000 in cash, 150 grams of gold, several mobile phones and personal documents.
The following pattern is evident. Terminal 1 at DXB has a system that works, and it works fast.
How to Report a Lost Item to Dubai Police?
If you misplace something at Dubai International Airport, make sure to visit the Lost and Found Office in the arrivals or departures hall. Also, the Dubai Police lost and found service allows for the reporting and retrieval of lost items by citizens, residents and visitors.
After filing a report, an official certificate of loss is issued, which shows the date and name of lost items. A Dubai Police app for both iOS and Android devices will also allow you to report a lost item. There, look for the service Search for the Lost Certificate, fill in the details and submit. The sooner you report, the better you’ll do.
