The official announcements are in, and there is excellent news for motorists across the emirate. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that free parking in Dubai will be available during Eid Al Fitr 2026, which occurs on the Islamic holiday following the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. The parking exemptions and public transport schedules are explained here for your family visits and Eid sales at the mall, and your fireworks viewing plans.

Free Parking in Dubai Dates for Eid Al Fitr 2026

The RTA announced that all paid public parking in Dubai will be free to all residents and tourists who want to celebrate the holiday. The free parking period begins on Shawwal 1 and ends on Shawwal 3 according to Islamic calendar dates.

The free parking dates begin according to astronomical sightings and official UAE moon-sighting committee findings as follows:

  • Thursday, March 19
  • Friday, March 20
  • Saturday, March 21

Paid parking regulations will resume on Sunday, March 22. The standard parking rules for Sunday will resume after the Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday ends, although particular areas of Dubai offer free parking on that day according to their regular parking regulations.

Important Exceptions: Multi-Storey Parking

The initiative provides free street parking and open-air public lot parking, but it excludes multi-storey parking garages from its benefits. The RTA multi-storey car park requires you to pay fees during the entire holiday weekend according to standard procedures.

A Bumper Four-Day Weekend

The residents of Dubai will receive an extended time off because of the Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday. The holiday starts on Thursday, March 19, and lasts until the weekend, which gives residents a four-day holiday from Thursday through Sunday. People should visit the city attractions or select an Eid staycation at this moment.

Public Transport During Eid Al Fitr

People who choose not to drive will find RTA extended Dubai Metro, Tram, and Public Bus service hours because of increased passenger demand during the holiday season.

  • Dubai Metro: Both the Red and Green lines will operate with extended service hours, which will reach 1:00 AM and beyond on peak holiday days.
  • Dubai Tram: The system will operate from early morning until late night to assist people who need to travel between Dubai Marina and JBR.
  • Marine Transport: Water taxis and Abras will operate on special holiday schedules, which provide excellent opportunities for sightseeing along the Dubai Canal or Creek.

Tips for Motorists During the Eid Break

  • Check the signs: The orange RTA parking signs require double verification to determine whether the zone permits a holiday exemption.
  • Avoid blocking access: Parking violations will result in fines because people parked on sidewalks and blocked fire hydrants, and obstructed other vehicles.
  • Plan Ahead: The popular Downtown Dubai, Bluewaters, and JBR areas will experience heavy traffic congestion, which requires you to arrive earlier or take the Metro system.
  • Stay Updated: The official RTA website and the RTA Dubai app provide you with real-time traffic information and upcoming transportation route modifications.

The Eid Al Fitr 2026 holiday provides extended time off and complimentary parking, which makes it an excellent opportunity to experience Dubai’s vibrant cultural and entertainment offerings. Eid Mubarak.
