January 20th, 2026: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates was invited to join the Gaza Board of Peace by Donald J. Trump which is a U.S.-led initiative newly formed to transform Gaza into peace and reconstruction, which was accepted by the U.A.E. Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 20.
Strategic Partnership On The Future Of Gaza
The move by the UAE to join the Gaza Board of Peace underlines the fact that the country is in agreement with the bigger 20-points peace plan introduced by President Trump on Gaza Strip that proponents say is a roadmap to sustainable peace and development in the region.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the acceptance is a sign of confidence in the leadership of President Trump and the relevance of international collaboration towards assisting the cause of peace. The UAE has taken a step forward to ensure that they are willing to participate in promoting stability, cooperation and well being of the Palestinian people as part of the mission of the Board.
The Gaza Board of Peace
The Gaza Board of Peace is a global organization proposed by President Trump and formally authorized by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 and is designed to manage the post-war administration, rebuilding and governance reforms as well as economic revival of Gaza.
President Trump has established himself as Chairman of the Board, and has major international personalities and diplomats in its executive and advisory committees. The Board is supposed to be a strategic centre in the second stage of the Gaza peace process.
Foreign Relations And Guesting
The UAE is not the only country and leader that was invited to take part in this initiative. The international presence in the Board seems to be increasing and invitations have been extended to leaders in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Asia including Morocco, India and many others.
Other political leaders and nations that are said to be welcomed include Argentina, Canada, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan among others which is an indication that the Trump administration is trying to expand the coverage of its peace structure.

Objectives And Missions Of The Program
The Gaza Board of Peace is set up to:
- Offer strategic management and coordination of rebuilding of civic infrastructures in Gaza.
- Divert international funds and humanitarianism.
- Provide accountability and good governance in the process of peace transition.
Coupled with the principal Board, parallel entities have also been established to provide day to day operations and administration with the support of the international community such as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and the Gaza Executive Board.
Responses And Local Effects
Whereas some countries such as UAE and Morocco have embraced the invitations, other countries and world powers have been more skeptical about the Gaza Board of Peace and its form especially on how it will relate with the existing international organizations such as the United Nations.
The nature of the interface of the mandate of the Board in the current diplomatic endeavors and realities on the ground has raised some concern among some of the regional actors and international observers in the Middle East.
The Role Of UAE And Its Diplomatic Commitment
UAE has been already actively engaged in peace negotiation in Gaza both at the diplomatic level and regional cooperation systems. Its involvement in the Board is considered by the officials in Abu Dhabi as the continuation of long-time dedication to the peace, stability, and economic development of the region.
The involvement of the Gaza Board of Peace is an indication that the UAE is interested in the short and long-term viability of peace-building efforts, as well as enhancement of its involvement in the international efforts of higher instruments to guarantee the people in Gaza, a durable and fair peace.
