August 6, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: Work has started on Hafeet Rail, and with it, the Gulf area is set for a big change in how easy it is to move around. This is the start of the first train line linking the UAE to Oman. The Hafeet Rail work, done by Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company, will make a fast rail line that joins Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Sohar.
They are building 303 kilometers of Hafeet Rail line with a big cash push of $2.5 billion, which is about 960 million Omani rials. This is the first train line that goes over the border in this region, and it will carry both people and goods. It aims to help the economy, make moving goods easier, and change how people travel in the area.
Hafeet Rail will tie Oman to Etihad Rail’s network by joining Oman’s rail line at Sohar Port. In the first phase of the project, Sohar will be connected to Abu Dhabi through Al Ain, serving both passengers and freight at high speeds of 200 km/h and 120 km/h, respectively.
A Fast, Easy UAE to Oman Train Route: More View-Filled Too
Hafeet Rail aims to cut travel time and boost comfort on the UAE to Oman train route. Once it runs, a trip from Abu Dhabi to Sohar will just take 1 hour and 40 minutes, way down from the 3 hours and 25 minutes by car. The Sohar to Al Ain trip will drop to 47 minutes from 1 hour and 27 minutes.

Riders will find top-notch trains with new features, cool rooms, and views of the Hajar Mountains, valleys, and deserts. The train line is made for ease, quickness, and trust, giving a strong option to car trips and skipping long waits at busy borders.
The train will help both fun and work trips. People and guests can plan short, fun trips, easier cross-border trips, and quick ways to get to places in both lands. For firms, Hafeet Rail means smooth goods moving and a boost in area trade.
The route will link more than 12 cities and stops in both lands, with 5 big ports and over 15 big goods stops. This smart setup makes the UAE to Oman train route a key pass way and trade hub.
Hafeet Rail to Push Money Integration and Growth
The start of Hafeet Rail is part of a bigger goal to build strong links and grow money ties between the UAE and Oman. By making a fast, safe UAE to Oman train route, the work opens new doors in trade, travel, goods moving, and house deals.

Leaders from Etihad Rail and Oman Rail say that construction has started, with track laying, stop design, and goods mix going on. The Hafeet Rail Team is on track to set the work times, planning a step-by-step opening of the train line soon.
The effect will be big. Hafeet Rail will cut travel costs, ease cross-border jams, and make it easy to get to trade and industry areas in Sohar, Al Ain, and Abu Dhabi. This link is key as Gulf lands grow and trade more with each other.

“With Hafeet Rail, we’re not just laying tracks; we’re making a link between two lands,” said a talker from Etihad Rail. “The UAE to Oman train route starts a new era of going places, money growth, and area togetherness.”
Once done, Hafeet Rail will be a main link in the Gulf – tying people, goods, and works with top ease. The UAE to Oman train route is not just about moving, but also a mark of strength between the UAE and Oman.
