Lucknow Super Giants secured a narrow win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, chasing down a target of 157 in the final over with 2 balls remaining. Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant proved that they are the key players for Lucknow.

The Shami Storm

Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant’s decision to bowl first paid off. Mohammed Shami fired a lethal bowling spell, dismissing the dangerous SRH top order. He removed Abhishek Sharma for a duck on just his second ball and also dismissed Travis Head at 7(8). When Prince Yadav got the SRH skipper, Ishan Kishan, 1(4).

The situation went from bad to worse when Liam Livingstone (14) fell to an amazing one-handed catch by Rishabh Pant off the bowling of Digvesh Singh Rathi, leaving SRH gasping at 26/4 in the 8th over.

Klaasen & Reddy Management

With their backs against the wall, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy rescued their team. The duo forged a record-breaking 116-run partnership in the fifth wicket. The highest in SRH history.

Heinrich Klaasen (62 off 41): The South African was the hitter early on, reaching his half-century with a towering 80-meter six.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (56 off 33): The local boy played the perfect before exploding in the 15th over, smashing Digvesh Singh Rathi for three massive sixes in a single over that cost LSG 22 runs.

LSG Claw Back at the Death

Just as SRH looked set for a 170+ run, the LSG bowlers woke up during the death overs. Avesh Khan struck twice in the 19th over, including the big wicket of Klaasen. SRH lost five wickets for just 14 runs in the final three overs, eventually finishing on 156.

The Solid Foundation

LSG’s chase started with more confidence than SRH’s. They played the Powerplay period very effectively, reaching 55/1 within the first six overs. This allowed the middle order to play with less pressure as the pitch began to slow down.

The Middle Grind

SRH’s bowlers, particularly Jaydev Unadkat and Washington Sundar, managed to dry up the boundaries during the middle overs. The surface made it difficult for new batters to find their form, leading to a climax where the required rate hovered around 9 runs per over.

The Finishing Act

Under pressure, Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant displayed veteran experience. Markram played the anchor role, while Pant’s ability to find boundaries at crucial moments kept the chase on track. Despite a tight final over from Harshal Patel, LSG crossed the finish line with two balls remaining.
