June 23, 2025 । Dubai, UAE – Amid the aggravating tension in Iran & Israel war, the likelihood of a ceasefire and any chances of a peaceful resolution in the near-term future remain a slim possibility, according to Dr. Kristian P Alexander, a senior fellow and leading researcher at the Rabdan Security and Defense Institute and previously a professor at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.
He further says, “The logic of escalation is still dominating both Israeli and Iranian strategic thinking. For Israel, the entry of the United States into the conflict provides an unexpected military backing to achieve a long-standing goal: to cripple or destroy Iran’s nuclear programme and reduce the regional threat posed by the ‘Axis of Resistance’. Tehran, for its part, sees the US strikes as confirmation that this is not just an Israeli campaign, but a broader assault on its sovereignty and regime survival.”
Escalating Timeline Of The War
The long history of tension between Iran and Israel due to nuclear weaponry developed into a heated conflict in 2025, with the first signs of escalation beginning on June 4th when a missile hit near Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, disrupting flights. Later on June 13th, Israel launches Operation Rising Lion, a massive airstrike campaign. Over 200 Israeli fighter jets hit various military and nuclear sites in Tehran, Natanz, Isfahan, and more, with Iran’s top IRGC commanders among the casualties.

With the conflict developing dangerously on 19th June when Iran struck the Soroka hospital, leading to approx 50 injured and a chemical leak, resulting in an international outcry. The war took an unprecedented turn on June 21st, due to the USA’s involvement with Operation Midnight Hammer, where they attacked three major Iranian nuclear sites. On Sunday, Iran responded with a mass missile barrage on Israel. Iran also threatens to strike the bases of the USA and block the Strait of Hormuz.
Impact Of The US’s Military Involvement On The Iran & Israel War
Dr. Kristian notes that the decision of the United States to carry out precision strikes dangerously deepens the trajectory of the unstable conflicts between Iran & Israel War .
“The decision by President Donald Trump to authorise strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure shifts the dynamics entirely,” he said.

Foad Izadi, Associate Professor of American Studies at Tehran University, elaborates that a military involvement by the US in Iran & Israel war could lead to devastating troop losses, economic turmoil, and legal crises. He also outlines the economic, legal and civil consequences of the USA’s attacks against Iran, such as a drastic rise in oil prices and the absence of any legal reasons to attack Iran, unrest across the world. It will also delay any chance of a ceasefire or de-escalation between the two countries.
UAE’s Negotiations Regarding Ceasefire And Peace Resolution
On Sunday, President Sheikh Mohammad held phone calls with global leaders to discuss the impacts of the Iran & Israel war, and emphasise possible ways to seek peaceful resolutions. These conversations included leaders of the Middle Eastern region as well as globally:

- Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal
- Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim
- Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
- Sultan of Oman, Sultan Haitham
- President of France, Emmanuel Macron
- Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni
UAE’s foreign ministry urged the UN and the UN peace council to uphold their responsibilities and work towards a comprehensive and long-term peace resolution, prioritising dialogue and diplomacy. Meanwhile, the reports from the UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation say that there has been no impact on the UAE from the developments in Iran & Israel War . However, a call for a ceasefire becomes necessary due to the apprehensive consequences of the Iran & Israel war on the world.
Economically, the impact would be greatest due to the location of the Strait of Hormuz as a global import and export passage for crude oil. Several nations condemn the US’s act of military involvement with the UN Secretary General, calling the situation alarming.
