November 8, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The city’s authority has declared a warning under its new Dubai municipality rule, which is that citizens must be aware of potential scammers impersonating work personnel. These pseudo-workers, through social media, act as individuals from the municipality. The organization suggests they are trying to misuse the trust that the citizens have and are scamming people.

Significance of the Dubai Municipality Rule

The latest Dubai Municipality Rule shows an increasing nuance in which people acting as municipal personnel reach out to people in the guise of fines or charges. The authority states that this act is being used to retrieve personal information and prompt the individuals to pay the fines to secure money.

Under this initiative, the citizens are asked that the authorized services are only handed out through valid platforms, and no individual will demand personal information or documentation through messaging apps.

The latest procedure also emphasizes the significance of awareness exhibitions to help the residents differentiate between authenticity and pseudo-practices. The authority plans to initiate new tools that will allow citizens to swiftly understand whether a contact number or a message is real. This significant step aims to sustain the trust of the citizens in the government’s procedures.

Protection Through the Dubai Municipality rule

Under the Dubai Municipality Rule, the organization asks residents to follow these steps.

  • Always cross-check the number that sent you the message or use the authorized application to verify the messages.
  • Do not provide your personal documents or bank details to these unverified numbers.
  • Avoid answering the messages or clicking on unverified links, or add your bank details if they claim to be from a personnel.
  • Use your own network or personal hotspot rather than the public Wi-Fi when making payments to the authorized portals.

By integrating these rules into the Dubai Municipality Rule, the organization seeks to safeguard the citizens against unauthorized personal fraud.

What Should the Citizens Do

The presumptions of the Dubai Municipality Rule are far more than just being vigilant. For citizens and workplaces, the message is loud. Excessive caution is required when you are being messaged by unauthorized numbers. The authority highlights that cross-checking the numbers is the responsibility of citizens.

If one fails to do so, then they will fall into the trap of monetary laws and identity theft. Additionally, the initiative shows that the authorities will consider this as a highly ineligible and unlawful offence.

As these initiatives increase and alerts are being sent to the citizens, the residents must inculcate them in their daily lives, where they can protect themselves from being vulnerable.

By creating this initiative, the authority redefines its responsibility towards protecting the citizens and ensuring their trust in the authorities. The government states that anyone who asks for personal documents in the name of the government will be punished thoroughly.
