Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH) In the UAE
The next UAE public holiday of 2025 is Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH). The day is falling on September 4 or 5, which is about a month’s gap from now.
The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday is celebrated during Rabi Al-Awwal, which is the third month of the Islamic calendar. It is a widely recognised celebration in the Islamic nations, especially across the Gulf. These countries have marked the day with an official national holiday. However, the date of this next UAE public holiday will be decided according to the coming moon sightings.

If Rabi Al-Awwal begins on Monday, August 25, then the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH) would fall on Friday, September 5. For UAE citizens, this would mean a long weekend of three days off including the day of festivities, Friday and then the following Saturday and Sunday.
However, if the month of Rabi Al-Awwal begins on August 24, Sunday, then Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH) will fall on September 4, Thursday. This would mean an additional holiday during the hectic week for the residents. The exact date will be confirmed in the coming days, corresponding to the official moon sightings.
The Upcoming 54th Eid Al Etihad
The next UAE public holiday after the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday will be in December. The 54th Eid Al Etihad or National Day of the UAE will officially fall on December 2 and 3 in 2025. The commemoration day officially falls on November 30, but it is typically observed on December 1, leading to an almost 4-day holiday for the UAE.

With the official launch of plans on July 18, Union Pledge Day, Emiratis are anticipating nation’s grandest celebration for the 54th year of Eid Al Etihad. The celebrations are confirmed to take place on December 2, as a large-scale nationwide festival.
For Eid Al Etihad, the Emiratis are expecting grand festivities with fireworks, drone shows, cultural performances, and patriotic decorations that will light up the skies and streets in every emirate.
Similar to last year, the special celebration zones of Eid Al Etihad were across popular locations like Global Village, Hatta, and Festival Promenade, among others. The UAE is planning nothing less for the National Day in 2025.
Public Holidays Law Update in UAE
Since the beginning of 2025, the UAE government has followed a new law that allows most public holidays that fall on weekends to be shifted to a weekday.

The law allows public holidays falling on a weekend to be transferred to a weekday that is either the start or end of a week, resulting in useful time off for professionals. However, Eid festivals like Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha will remain non-transferable. Similarly, if a holiday may overlap with another, then rescheduling will be avoided. Each emirate also has the liberty of adding its own holidays.
