June 19, 2025 | Dubai, UAE- The RAK airport new terminal is all set to soar high in UAE. The development of a new and modern terminal, scheduled to be finished in 2028, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport – RAKIA – is going to change aviation in this part of the UAE.  RAK is making great strides in increasing its capacity as it will cater to three million passengers each year. The RAK airport new terminal aims the aim of priming visitors for their most awe-inspiring experiences of the untouched natural areas of Ras Al Khaimah and advance and promote the growth of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah.

Currently, the expansion of the RAK airport new terminal has seen a new 30,000 sqm terminal in addition to their new terminal planned for completion by 2028, anticipating operational capacity demand generated by tourism, private aviation, and cargo. Here are some details to note.

  • Coordinated baggage handling and automated check-in create a better experience for passengers.  
  • Digital gates with better secure boarding options to be installed in RAK airport new terminal.
  • Sustainability features of energy-efficient LED lights, solar panels, GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMP, and dynamic thermodynamic energy solutions. 
  • A separate private aviation terminal will be anticipated for travelers and operators of high-end choices, including dedicated hangars and aircraft parking.

To support this growth will be a commercial and private aircraft maintenance center, and immediately behind the terminal development, a new air cargo operator just recently established RAK airport new terminal as their regional hub, operating over 100 freight flights weekly and delivering throughout the region essential products that include pharmaceuticals, livestock, etc.    

Egis – a French design and engineering consultancy – designed the extended RAK airport new terminal and is undertaking the concept design study on behalf of the RAK airport.

A Fuel for Economic Growth and Tourism 

The expansion of the RAK airport new terminal has strip targets to fully open by 2028, capable of undertaking up to 3 million passengers per annum and to establish Ras Al Khaimah as a leading forum in aviation/upfront for tourism throughout the UAE. The RAK airport new terminal is perfectly aligned with the emirate’s rise in popularity among global travelers, allowing both the adventure venue found throughout Al Marjan Island and establishing RAK as a premium tourism destination throughout the region. The expansion plan of RAK Airport new terminal is an important step toward establishing the Emirates as an aviation and tourism hub in the UAE. The development of a new private aviation terminal and the development of cargo handling facilities will also further enhance the overall capacity of the airport, which will support tourism, trade, and industry in Ras Al Khaimah.

The RAK airport’s new terminal is expected to stimulate the local economy and provide additional job opportunities while attracting more tourists and industry to the Emirates.
