July 31, 2025 | Mecca, Saudi Arabia: This spiritual journey is like no other and is now set to unfold this November as Saudi Arabia invites 300,000 people to retrace one of the most sacred paths in Islamic history, the Prophet migration for visitors. This landmark initiative, which is titled In the Prophet’s Steps, promises to bring to life the powerful story of Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) Hijrah from Mecca to Medina using best technology, authentic landscapes, and emotional storytelling.

For Muslims all around the world, the Hijrah is more than just a historical moment, it’s a symbol of faith, sacrifice, and hope. Now, through this immersive project, visitors can now experience every emotion firsthand.

A Journey of Faith, Now Reimagined

The Prophet migration for visitors covers the 470-kilometre route walked by the Prophet over 1,400 years ago. Of this, 305 kilometres have been carefully restored and made walkable. What once took days to cross under the harsh desert sun has now been transformed into an enriching, deeply spiritual journey.

The route features 41 historical landmarks, from key rest points to sacred locations mentioned in Islamic texts. Eight hospitality stations and five interactive hubs dot the trail, offering stories, guidance, and context at every step. Whether walking a few kilometres or completing the entire path, every visitor will come face to face with the legacy of resilience and trust in divine guidance. For the first time, the Prophet migration for visitors will feel accessible not only physically but emotionally.

Tech Meets Tradition Along the Sacred Trail

What makes this project stand out is the seamless fusion of heritage and innovation. Augmented reality, motion tracking, and storytelling kiosks will allow guests to visualise events as they happened on the Hijrah.

The once difficult two-hour climb to the Cave of Thawr, where the Prophet and Abu Bakr sought refuge, has now been reduced to a safe three-minute journey via specially designed vehicles. This means more people,  including elderly pilgrims and families can witness this powerful location without enduring the exhausting terrain.

With mobile guides and real-time route updates, the Prophet migration for visitors will combine spiritual awe with the comfort of modern planning. And with a dedicated Migration Museum anchoring the experience, guests will leave not just inspired, but deeply informed.

300,000 Pilgrims in First Phase, Millions Expected Soon

The response has been extraordinary. Over a million people registered interest, and 300,000 have been selected to participate in this inaugural phase. According to GEA Chairman Turki Al Sheikh, this overwhelming interest reflects the global hunger to connect with the Prophet’s journey in a more personal and reflective way.

The Prophet migration for visitors initiative isn’t just about Saudi Arabia’s spiritual tourism goals, it’s about preserving and celebrating Islamic heritage. With carefully curated rest areas, 30 restaurants, 50 shops, and capacity for 12,000 visitors per day, this is more than a trip. It’s a living, breathing story of faith told through place, sound, and soul.

Indonesia has stood up as the strongest international response so far, with the plans underway to expand to Malaysia, Turkey, and India. By 2030, the initiative of Prophet migration for visitors.hopes to host over five million people annually.

A Sacred Story Made Personal for the Modern Pilgrim

For many Muslims, the Hijrah is part of daily prayers, sermons, and readings but until now, it was a journey left to the imagination. The Prophet migration for visitors transforms that story into something tangible, walkable, and deeply moving.

It’s not just about walking a trail, it’s about finding again the steps of someone who left everything behind for faith and community. Visitors will walk the sacred path not with urgency, but with reflection thinking about their own spiritual journey, their struggles, and what faith means to them today.

This project offers more than a cultural attraction. It offers pause. A moment to slow down in a fast world and reconnect with timeless values: patience, courage, trust.

A Milestone in Modern Islamic Heritage

The Prophet migration for visitors is more than a headline, it’s a heartline to Islamic history. Saudi Arabia’s effort to make this experience accessible to global audiences marks a new chapter in faith tourism. It is respectful, visionary, and deeply personal.

With every step taken between Mecca and Medina, visitors will not only follow the Prophet’s journey, they will discover their own.
