The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has established an academic year framework that requires all private schools to follow standardized summer break dates that apply to their specific teaching methods.

The KHDA has announced Schools close for Summer in Dubai, which will begin on Monday, June 29, 2026, after the 2025-2026 academic year ends.

The summer vacation for students officially begins on this date, yet there exist several exceptions to this rule.

  • Last Day of Instruction: Most students will complete their school year on June 26 because the last bell will sound while the holiday will begin on the following Monday.
  • Curriculum Differences: Most international schools follow the June 29 date for ending their school year which includes British American IB and Indian curriculums but some schools will adjust their dates by one or two days to conduct teacher training and complete end-of-term administrative tasks.
  • Academic Staff: The majority of academic and administrative staff will continue to work until early July because students will begin their summer vacation in late June to finalize reports and prepare for the ensuing academic year.

Planning for the Longest Break of the Year

The schools close for summer in Dubai last from the time schools close until students return to school for their summer break, which lasts between seven and eight weeks. The new academic year for 2026-2027 will begin during the last week of August, according to historical patterns.
