November 13, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: As a student who has spent several semesters living in Dubai so far, I have observed numerous classmates discussing their plans to bring their parents there. This guide will also dissect all you need to know, such as the minimum salary you are required to earn, the paperwork work and the expenses for sponsoring parents in Dubai.

Sponsoring Parents in Dubai: Everything You Need to Know About Salary Requirements and Process

Minimum Salary for Sponsoring Parents in Dubai

The most crucial fact to be aware of is the minimum wage level for sponsoring parents in Dubai. GDRFA Dubai qualifies for Dh10,000 a month. Others claim it is still more, Dh20,000 a month, or Dh19,000 in case your occupation offers you a two-bedroom apartment. This is a better salary than what the sponsorship of a spouse or kids needs, since you will be assuming additional financial burdens. You will have to show that you can take care of your parents without stretching your budget.

Basic Requirements for Sponsoring Parents in Dubai

These are the minimum requirements that you need to be ready for sponsoring parents in Dubai. First, you should have a valid UAE residence visa. Second, you should have appropriate accommodation that is within the housing standards of Dubai. Third, you must ensure your parents are extensively covered in health insurance – it is compulsory throughout the period of their residence.

Each parent will also be required to pay a Dh2,500 security deposit that is refundable. The payment is being stored in the form of a deposit by Immigration and will be returned at the time your parents leave the country or in case you withdraw the sponsorship.

Documents Needed for Sponsoring Parents in Dubai

You will need a few papers to sort the paperwork for sponsoring parents in Dubai. These are your employment contract, salary certificate, and bank statements of the past three months. You should also have a tenancy agreement or a letter of accommodation from your employer.

To demonstrate the family relationship, provide birth certificates that reveal that you are their child. These have to be duly attested by the home country consulate, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and they should have an Arabic translation. You will also be required to have passport copies of your parents, not more than six months of validity, and passport-size photographs on a white background.

Medical Tests Required

Fitness tests are a mandatory procedure in the medical field for sponsoring parents in Dubai. Your parents are required to attend one of the 21 designated Medical Fitness Centres in Dubai that are operated by the Dubai Health Authority. The examinations identify the communicable diseases and ensure that your parents are in line with the UAE health requirements.

Typically, the response is received within 24-48 hours, and it is sent automatically to GDRFA systems. You can select which medical centre you would like when you are applying. Walk-ins are accepted in most centres, although at times a time-of-need one should make a reservation first.

Application Process and Costs Incurred

The entire procedure is usually one to two weeks when all the documents are in place. You can submit all these by means of registered typing centres or Amer Centres that are the agencies of visa applications viewed by GDRFA Dubai.

In case your parents are already in Dubai holding a tourist visa, you may change status and transfer their visit visa into a residence one whilst sponsoring them. In this manner, they will not be forced to move to the house when they want to have visa stamping.

It has a number of fees to take into account. The overall price per parent varies between Dh1,200 and Dh1,500, depending on the option of the medical test package. The fee includes visa processing, medical fitness tests, Emirates ID application, and typing centre service fees.

Other expenses are the security deposit of Dh2,500 per parent, which is refundable and compulsory health insurance. The prices of insurance depend on the level of coverage and the age, along the health of your parents.

During sponsorship of parents, you will be expected to maintain your employment, and your salary needs to be constant during the sponsorship process. In case of job loss, you are supposed to report this to GDRFA immediately because it may influence the renewal of visas.

The majority of individuals would sponsor both parents jointly, since the authorities tend to demand that. You may, however, sponsor a single parent where the parent is deceased or parents are divorced or have a non-opposition certificate with the other parent.

Sponsoring parents in Dubai is a great way to bring family closer and give them care in their golden years. Even though it requires a good salary, good paperwork, and some amount of money, it is not difficult when you prepare everything beforehand. The combination of the proper documentation, sufficient salary evidence, and decent health insurance will make it possible to sponsor your parents and have a nice time with them in the UAE.
