The General Civil Aviation Authority has declared a temporary partial closure of UAE airspace closure because of security developments that require immediate response. The government implemented this extraordinary security measure to safeguard all passengers and flight crews, and their aircraft throughout the country.

The global travel situation has worsened since Monday morning because the major Dubai-based airlines have expanded their flight cancellations.

Emirates and flydubai: Latest Flight Status

The two airlines Emirates and flydubai, have declared a UAE airspace closure between Dubai International Airport and all other destinations, which will last until 3:00 PM UAE time on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

  • Emirates Update: The airline has suspended operations because of multiple airspace restrictions in the region. The airline offers passengers booked to travel between now and Thursday, March 5, two options, which include rebooking their flights within 20 days of their original date or choosing to receive a full refund.
  • Flydubai Update: The airline has grounded all flights at this time. The airline is working closely with authorities to modify its flight schedules while handling a large number of customer support requests. Passengers need to use the “Manage Booking” feature to change their contact information.

Advice for Passengers at DXB and DWC

The authorities at Dubai Airports have declared a complete suspension of all flight operations which affects both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport until they make their next official announcement. The Dubai Airports spokesperson issued a warning that passengers need to stay away from the airport until further notice.

Travelers must reach out to their airlines because this is the only way to obtain current information about their flight status. NCEMA has confirmed to the public that its monitoring operations extend throughout the day while the organization maintains control over the ongoing situation.

Government Support for Stranded Travelers

The UAE government will provide accommodation support and essential services to stranded travelers who need assistance because of the UAE airspace closure. The country demonstrates its dedication to protecting traveler safety through its current operational protocols which it maintains during these unusual situations.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has requested that private companies should implement remote work solutions until Tuesday, March 3, because this would decrease the demand on transportation systems until the aviation problems are resolved.

The GCAA maintains that its primary mission involves safeguarding the security of all UAE territory while preserving national sovereignty. Official government channels provide the public with travel information because they need to avoid sharing unverified information.
