August 26, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The leadership of the United Arab Emirates has conveyed its condolences to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait following the recent Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah passing. An official announcement released by the Amiri Diwan in Kuwait confirmed that Sheikha Suad, who was the spouse of Sheikh Fadel Al-Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, died at the age of 74.

This event has drawn significant expressions of sympathy throughout the Gulf region, which underscores both her significance within the Kuwaiti royal family and the longstanding historical ties that exist between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. The Kuwait Emir received condolences that highlighted solidarity and deep respect for this moment of grief

UAE Leadership Extends Condolences

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, communicated his condolences to the Kuwait Emir through a condolence cable. In his message, he expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy, imploring divine mercy for the late Sheikha Suad. Additionally, he wished the Al-Sabah family and the people of Kuwait enduring patience and solace during this period of grief brought by the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing.

In a similar gesture, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, also sent a condolence cable to the Kuwait Emir. In his correspondence, he reaffirmed the solidarity of the United Arab Emirates with Kuwait in its time of mourning after the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing. Furthermore, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, conveyed comparable sentiments in a separate communication directed to the Kuwait Emir.

Furthermore, the leaders of Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al-Quwain, and Ras Al-Khaimah, together with their Crown Princes and Deputies, have conveyed messages of sympathy to the Emir of Kuwait. These communications reflect a unified expression of sorrow emanating from the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, strengthening ties in the wake of the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing.

The extensive expressions of condolence serve to illustrate the strong bilateral relationship that exists between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. Both countries are founding members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and their leaders have consistently united in support during challenging times.

Regional and Historical Significance

The Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing has been recognized not only in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates but also across several other nations in the region. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman have also extended condolences, while Egypt and Jordan have similarly conveyed their sympathies. This regional reaction reflects the esteem in which the Kuwaiti royal family is held, as well as the strong cultural and diplomatic relationships that exist among Arab countries, especially at the time of the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing.

In particular, the response from the United Arab Emirates carries significant symbolic meaning. Throughout the Gulf War of 1990 to 1991, the UAE provided support to Kuwait in its efforts against invasion, thereby establishing a durable relationship based on mutual trust. The expressions of condolence offered today serve to reinforce this sense of solidarity. In Gulf tradition, the condolences issued by leaders go beyond mere formalities; they embody a shared commitment to unity, an expression of empathy, and an acknowledgment of grief as a communal experience.

Although Sheikha Suad maintained a relatively low public profile, her association as the spouse of Sheikh Fadel Al-Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah connected her intimately to the Kuwaiti ruling family. Her death signifies not only a personal loss for the Al-Sabah family but also a moment of solemn reflection for the entire nation. The leadership of the United Arab Emirates has expressed condolences at various levels, thereby reaffirming the fundamental values of solidarity and respect that characterize relations among Gulf states.

The demise of Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah has brought the region together in sorrow and remembrance. His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has received condolences from the highest echelons of UAE leadership, which includes President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, as well as the rulers of all seven emirates.

The communications, supported by official reports from WAM, Gulf News, and Sharjah24, exemplify the United Arab Emirates dedication to assisting Kuwait during periods of bereavement like the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing. Furthermore, these messages emphasize the cultural significance of condolence exchanges in the Gulf region, where respect, solidarity, and empathy play integral roles in diplomatic relations.

The extensive manifestations of sympathy reflect the lasting camaraderie between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. This interaction serves as a reminder to both nations, as well as the broader region, that collective mourning, such as during the Sheikha Suad Al-Sabah Passing, fosters stronger ties of friendship and collaboration centered on the leadership of the Kuwait Emir.
