Dubai, UAE- 16th May 2025: Introduced in 2019, the UAE golden visa offers a 10-year residency to selected foreign nationals. This is provided mainly to people who contribute to the knowledge sector and overall are an asset to the economy of the country. This is good news for non-citizen nurses and teachers in Dubai. The government, with respect to the International Nurses Day on May 12, announced a 10-year UAE Golden Visa to nurses who have been working with Dubai Health for more than 15 years.

The PM, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said that the nursing staff are at the forefront of healthcare and have played their essential part in the vision of a healthier society and an improved quality of life. He also praised the nurses for their dedication to patient care. He recognised excellence and honoured those who serve their country with commitment.

What the UAE Golden Visa offers

UAE expands the long-term residency programme. The holders of the UAE golden visa can live, work, and invest in the UAE without any interference or the need for a foreign sponsor. The initiative by the government is open to many:

UAE Golden Visa 10 year Visa
  • Open to qualified professionals in healthcare.
  • Open to professionals in the education sector.
  • Open to Investors and Entrepreneurs.
  • Open to Scientists.
  • Open to skilled workers in technology and the creative sector as well.

Nursing Professionals

The UAE government understands how crucial the need for better healthcare is and how important it is to make living for the frontline workers more comfortable. The main focus is on the healthcare workers in the UAE Golden Visa scheme. On the occasion of International Nurses Day on May 12, a 10-year UAE golden visa was announced for healthcare workers who have been working for Dubai Health for over 15 years.

The PM included the importance of the nurses and honoured their contribution in his words; he recognised the work that these frontline workers have done for the country. Now, with the UAE golden visa, any professional healthcare worker will not need a foreign sponsor for investing, but he or she can do it on their own. Family sponsorship is allowed.

Teaching Professionals

Education is an integral part of an economy, as it shapes the future for the upcoming youth, the upcoming professional leaders of a country. The UAE understands the importance of the educational sector and is therefore constantly coming up with new ideas to uplift the same. A 10-year UAE Golden Visa is provided for private education professionals living in the UAE.

Dubai Golden Visa

This decision was announced by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. This visa is open to any educational professional at childhood centres, schools, and universities for those who have shown academic excellence and raised the education standards in the country.

Ras Al Khaimah has also introduced a similar visa for teachers, principals, and senior private school staff, supported by the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge.

New categories of professionals

As unconventional as it may be, the government is seeing the upcoming professions and is keen on working on them. The government sees the potential of such upcoming skills as professional online gaming, content creation, and influencers. Professionals in the field of creativity, like content creators, filmmakers, social media influencers, and gaming experts, can also apply for this visa. This category’s acceptance was launched during the 1 billion followers summit in January of this year and is overseen by The Creators HQ. The applicants do not need a sponsor & can apply online.

The UAE Golden Visa for gaming experts or e-sports professionals has been introduced as a part of the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033. Specifications for the same are that the applicants must be 25 and above in age and must receive accreditation from Dubai Culture. Abu Dhabi also provides a similar visa, but through the Department of Culture and Tourism’s gaming initiative.

Long-Term Visas for yacht owners

A special category has been rolled out for the yacht owners. Abu Dhabi has run this category under the Abu Dhabi Golden Quay initiative, offering long-term visas to yacht owners. To be an applicant, one must own a private yacht with a length of at least 40 meters.

This category is also open to executives, stakeholders, owners, agents, manufacturers, and even insurers in the yacht-related businesses. Family sponsorship is included. This is anticipated to stimulate growing yacht services, luxury tourism, and high-end waterfront development.

If you were looking to move to the UAE and you resonate with any of these categories, listen above – you’re in luck! The government is giving preference to the people who can be valuable assets to the country and is making it easier for more and more professionals to join them in growing their economy.
