November 24, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has declared the UAE National Day holiday for private sector from Monday, 1st December and Tuesday, 2nd December in honor of the UAE National Day (or Eid Al Etihad).

This announcement for the UAE National Day Holiday for private sector, occurred only hours after the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced the same schedule of holidays to the staff of the public sector. Consequently, the employees in the public and private sectors will have an opportunity to have a four-day holiday which is inclusive of the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

The festival of the Union Eid Al Etihad is a festival celebrated on 2 December annually to celebrate the historicity of the formation of the United Arab Emirates in 1971 when the seven emirates were formed to transform into the federation.  Not only is it a reminder of the founding of the nation, but it is also a time to look at the development of the UAE, its ethos of unity, and pride in what has been accomplished as a nation.

  • Safety-first celebration: Be it fireworks, parades or cultural events, it is important to keep in mind the fact that National Day celebrations attract vast crowds, the personal safety and means of transport in mind.
  • Leisure & local tourism: Take the opportunity to visit some of the least popular places in the UAE, use the long weekend to relax or have a look around.
  • Thought and group: More than fun and rest, the National Day is a time to look back at the history of the UAE, cherished ideas of unity, and what the federation is to every resident.

By proclaiming paid leave to the workers for the UAE National Day Holiday for private sector on December 1 and 2, the UAE strengthens the unified celebration of the founding of the country and puts everyone in significant rest to commemorate this significant date.
