July 8, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The UAE is remaking the rules of global trade and it’s doing so without relying on oil. In 2024, the UAE non-oil trade with BRICS nations got an impressive $243 billion, rising by 10.5% from the year before. And the momentum hasn’t stopped. The beginning few months of 2025 have already seen trade climb to $68.3 billion and 18.2% leap from the same period in 2024.

These digits aren’t just regarding exports and figures. They’re also about people, partnerships, and a country that’s so much committed to making meaningful economic bridges. The UAE’s BRICS membership, which became official in 2024, is helping build this vision into a reality and bringing an entire new chapter of opportunities alongside.

Apart from a Trade Deal: UAE’s Place in the BRICS Family

Before the UAE joined the BRICS community, it was a group once made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, so for UAE it wasn’t just about joining a new club, It was about aligning with nations that share a similar ambition: to grow together, trade fairly, and build resilient economies.

This inclusion expanded BRICS group which now comprises of 10 countries, adding Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the UAE. Together, they represent nearly half of the world’s population.

For the UAE, joining the BRICS group wasn’t just about gaining a new title, it was about opening doors. Doors to new markets, closer friendships with other nations, and a chance to shape a more inclusive, balanced global economy.

And the impact is already being felt. UAE non-oil trade with BRICS nations is not just growing, it’s thriving. At the heart of this growth is a shared belief in collaboration, innovation, and breaking down the old barriers that once held progress back.

The Work Behind the Progress and what the stats say

UAE’s non-oil exports to BRICS countries reached $39.4 billion in 2024 double in comparison to what they were five years ago. Another $50.5 billion came from re-exports, further showing how the UAE has become supreme centre in connecting global supply chains.

The country now ranks 14th globally among BRICS trading partners and 5th within the group itself behind the economic giants of China, India, Russia, and Brazil. That’s no small feat for a nation its size.

These numbers tell so much more than just a success story, they represent how determined the UAE is to reduce its major dependence on oil and invest in areas that matter like logistics, renewable energy, healthcare and food security. With every agreement signed shows a step toward a more balanced and diversified economy.

Conversations That Spark Change: The BRICS Business Forum

At the heart of this growing partnership lies dialogue. That’s why the BRICS Business Forum, held in Brazil this year, became such a powerful moment for the UAE.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade, stood before representatives from nine other nations and spoke of a shared future built on trust, innovation, and investment. He called BRICS “a compelling model for growth” one that strips away red tape and focuses on real collaboration.

From climate-friendly technologies to advanced logistics and digital healthcare, Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the key areas where the UAE and BRICS nations can make a real difference not just for themselves, but for the rest of the world.

And it wasn’t just talk. The forum ended with a series of concrete new partnerships and projects that aim to turn bold ideas into shared success stories.

What’s Next: A Future Built on Trust and Trade

For the UAE, this is more than an economic moment. It’s a mindset shift. It’s about leaning into new partnerships, welcoming innovation, and saying yes to trade that uplifts everyone not just the wealthy or powerful.

As Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, put it: “Partnerships between emerging economies are more than financial deals. They’re building blocks for a more balanced, more inclusive world.”

UAE non-oil trade with BRICS nations

The UAE non-oil trade with BRICS nations is one such block growing stronger by the day. The country’s BRICS membership gives it a front-row seat to global transformation. It’s the beginning of something hude with every dollar traded, no more just a business.
This successful UAE non-oil trade with BRICS nations isn’t just a matter of economics, it’s a reflection of smart strategy, shared ambitions, and the strength of building lasting partnerships. Behind the numbers lies a clear vision: the UAE is working closely with BRICS member countries to create a trade ecosystem built on trust, innovation, and mutual benefit.

With the support of its BRICS membership, the UAE is actively shaping a future where trade isn’t just about goods crossing borders, it’s about opening doors to new opportunities, strengthening diplomatic ties, and creating space for joint progress. In this vision, economic exchange goes hand-in-hand with deeper collaboration, allowing nations to grow stronger together not in competition, but in cooperation.
