December 12, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The UAE passport was the complete winner again in the first place in the world travel game another year with the UAE passport rank at number one. The Emirates continue to trample on it even as other major nations go backwards and borderline further (Passport Index 2025, Arton Capital).

The fresh UAE passport rank hands Emirati folks visa‑free access to 129 destinations, a visa‑on‑arrival for 45 countries, and an ETA for eight more, so that’s a killer mobility score of 179. It is even more bonkers when you consider that most passports have expired in 2025 when governments enforced their tighter entry policies and renegotiated visa agreements.

The passport index man, Armand Arton, the CEO of Arton Capital, opines that the UAE remains in the lead, indicating a trending paradigm of motions in the world. The world is becoming more reserved, and the rushy post-COVID opening period is over, he said. Even in this transition, however, we have the UAE playing the colonising role and Asian nations playing the role of major players of mobility.

UAE Passport Rank Dominates 2025 Passport Index With Record Global Access

The superior UAE passport rank stands in stark contrast to traditional powerhouses like the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada, which all experienced significant drops in the 2025 rankings. The UK dropped to 39th position out of 32 nd, and the US and Canada dropped to 41st and 40 st respectively after losing five visa-free destinations each.

Diplomatic Manoeuvres that made it successful

The leap in UAE passport rank wasn’t just luck—it’s the result of years of shrewd diplomatic moves and dealing. The Emirates have been taking their international mobility seriously with specific visa waiver agreements with nations wishing to establish closer economic and strategic relationships. The UAE continues to be a top destination on the rides of Emirati travellers as countries continue to experience the increasing economic influence and political stability of the country.

Digital modernisation has also fired up the UAE passport rank. The nation that leapt ahead was extending ETA frameworks, such as Canada, which opted to provide ETA membership to its UAE citizens- Emirates became the second GCC country after the country to have that privilege. This combination of confidence, financial muscle, and proactive and future travel arrangements has the UAE sailing above the global challenges.

Economic and Personal Benefits

The top UAE passport rank isn’t just bragging— it actually means real freedom for folks when global mobility is at its tightest. Visa-free or visa-light access eliminates the time and uncertainty of the traditional visa application process, and enables easier access to travelling to school, business expansion or a cultural event.

UAE Passport Rank Dominates 2025 Passport Index With Record Global Access

The UAE passport rank has also increased the attractiveness of the country to foreigners in terms of talent and investment. The 10-year Golden Visa offered by the Emirates is very popular among professionals, investors, and millionaires seeking to settle in a globalised metropolitan area with a strong passport, a high level of per capita income, and the best quality of life.

Looking Ahead: Being a Leader

While the current UAE passport rank feels solid, staying on top needs more diplomatic hustle and keeping up with evolving global travel tech. The Passport Index forecasts more than 25 additional nations to implement ETA systems by 2026, such as the long-awaited ETIAS implementation for the travellers of 60+ countries visiting Schengen, by the EU.

UAE Passport Rank Dominates 2025 Passport Index With Record Global Access

The sustained UAE passport rank at number one for seven straight years means more than just travel convenience—it signals the Emirates’ successful rise to a globally respected nation with unmatched soft power. With closures becoming increasingly restrictive and old-school passport powerhouses starting to fade, the UAE is proving its worthiness to remain open, form strategic alliances and act as a digital innovator, which is driving the global mobility standards at an ever-increasing pace.
