May 5, 2025; Abu Dhabi, UAE – The UAE has announced a major step in education. Starting from the next academic year, UAE Public Schools will introduce AI official subject for all students, from kindergarten to Grade 12. This move makes the UAE one of the first countries in the world to teach artificial intelligence to every student at every stage of their schooling.

A New Era: AI Official Subject in UAE Public Schools

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that AI official subject will be part in the curriculum in all UAE public schools. The subject will be taught under the “Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation” program. Students as young as four will start learning about artificial intelligence through stories, visuals, and play.

As students grow, the AI official subject will cover more advanced topics. In early grades, children will compare human and machine abilities and build digital thinking skills. In middle school, they will learn about AI design, bias in algorithms, and the ethics of technology. By high school, students will solve real-world problems using advanced AI concepts like command engineering.

The curriculum is designed to match each age group’s needs. It covers seven main areas:

  • Basic AI concepts
  • Data and algorithms
  • Software tools
  • Ethical awareness
  • Real-world applications
  • Innovation and project design
  • Policy and community issues

Empowering Students for a Tech-Driven Future

The goal of making AI an official subject part of UAE public schools is to prepare students for a world shaped by technology. The Ministry of Education intends to have all students comprehend and utilize artificial intelligence in their daily lives in line with the UAE’s vision of a knowledge-based society and strong digital economy.

The program is set to be developed with the support of leading tech and education institutions such as Presight, AI71, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, and Emirates College for Advanced Education. Such partnerships will help in developing a setting where students become makers and problem-solvers rather than just users of technology.

Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education, said that adding “AI official subject” to UAE schools is an important step in modernizing education. She explained that this will help students understand the ethics of technology and create smart solutions for future challenges.

No Extra Hours, Just Smarter Learning

One special feature of the new “AI official subject” is that it will not require extra school hours. The subject will fit into the current timetable under the existing Computing, Creative Design, and Innovation classes. This means students will not feel overloaded, and teachers will get guides, hands-on activities, and flexible lesson plans to make learning easy and fun.

Designated teachers will lead the “AI official subject” lessons in UAE public schools. The Ministry of Education will provide training and support to ensure high-quality teaching across all grades.

A Vision for the Future

The UAE administration thinks that training in “artificial intelligence official subject” in UAE public schools would help equip students with the abilities for future employment. Workplaces are rapidly changing, and AI is at the heart of this change. Hence, by starting early, the UAE hopes to build a generation of tech-savvy, creative, and ethical thinkers.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, said this will be a step in the long-term preparation of the youth for a world with advanced skills. Equally important is the ability to grasp the technical and ethical side of artificial intelligence.

The advent of “AI official subject” in UAE public schools symbolizes a bold step in the country’s ambition to be a world leader in tech and education. As AI becomes more and more prevalent in our lives, students in the UAE will now be capable of wisely and effectively deploying the technology.

In summary, UAE Public Schools will soon make AI an official subject for all students, ensuring every child learns the skills needed for a digital future.
