September 2, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: The Ministry of Education has unveiled the UAE schools strict attendance rule intended for the academic year 2025-2026, which confirms the strict attendance rule of UAE schools. The refreshed policy that comes into effect on September 1 deeply roots the importance of regular school attendance as one of the main keys to academic achievements.

UAE Schools Strict Attendance Rule for 2025-2026 Academic Year

New stipulations prescribe the use of a warning system that will be triggered the very next day after a student records an unexcused absence. The Absence Limit in UAE Schools strict attendance rule is what this action is in line with, as it tightly confines the number of unexcused absence days to five per term and 15 per academic year. The policy states that the student may be required to rewind the whole academic year if the number of unexcused absences exceeds 15 at the end of the school year.

Parents will be notified without delay about their child’s absence in accordance with the new laws. Moreover, if the situation with unexcused absences continues and they become more than 15 days, then both the student’s file and the guardian’s will be handed over to the authorities, as well as organizations that deal with child protection. The action tightens the UAE schools strict attendance rule, thus ensuring that guardians are still held responsible for their child’s academic commitment.

One more point that is equally important in the regulations is that an absence from school on Friday or the day before or after an official holiday will be considered as two days. The clause was inserted to discourage families from lengthening their weekends or official breaks without permission, thus supporting the Absence Limit in UAE Schools strict attendance rule and not allowing the habitual absenteeism to continue.

Stronger Accountability with More Involvement from Parents

In the revised policy, the responsibility for the students as well as their parents is emphasized, and both are required to ensure that pupils’ attendance is as per UAE schools strict attendance rule. If parents feel that the decision about the attendance violation is unfair, they are allowed to appeal the case only within the next five working days after they receive the written notification. This not only promotes fairness in the application but also elevates academic discipline through the maintenance of threshold standards.

The Ministry of Education remarked that this project is just one of many measures taken to raise teaching quality above other things and guarantee continuity in the learning process. The government, by implementing the Absence Limit in Emirati Schools, seeks to eliminate interruptions in students’ studies and create a sense of responsibility among them from the early years of their education.

In the past few months, the United Arab Emirates has unveiled further measures for an overhaul in school activities, among which are adjustments in centralized assessment. The schools will conduct their own summative assessments, while centralized tests will run only in the first and third semesters. The change has been made so that educationists can put more emphasis on consistent attendance throughout the academic year, thereby strengthening the link between the UAE schools strict attendance rule and student performance.

The current attendance model also depicts a more immediate interaction between schools and parents. Parents must be informed by the relevant source without any delay, as soon as the student leaves the class.
