December 14, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: Great news for us working overseas! The UAE has been given the official go-ahead: the UAE New Year holiday for private sector is set for January 1, 2026. It gives us a full day off at the beginning of 2026, which is quite exciting for all employees working in the Emirates. It belongs to the state initiative of maintaining a single common calendar of a unified public holiday that will suit both the state and the private sector employees.

Official Announcement and Holiday Details

According to the Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2024, the UAE New Year holiday for private sector has been confirmed. Here are the key dates:

Official Holiday Date:

  • Thursday, January 1, 2026 – UAE New Year Holiday (Paid day off for private sector employees)

Additional Opportunity:

  • Friday, January 2, 2026 – Remote work day for federal employees (private sector employees can request leave for an extended weekend)

Authoritative Assurance and Vacation Information

The initiative will ensure that we receive the same holiday benefits as our counterparts in the public sector, a sign that the government is determined to make sure that all are treated equally.

The Federal Authority to Government Human Resources raised a red flag that this will be a fully paid holiday for the UAE New Year holiday for private sector, hence we can roll into 2026 with family, friends or a warm and relaxing weekend.

It will come out formally in the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is, of course, the routine, but since the country has a united calendar, the same number of public holidays and dates are typically granted to both the public and the private workers every year.

Though that is limited to government people, you can enquire of your own boss about flexible arrangements- perhaps something of that sort, I do not know.

Effects on Business and Economic Life

It is not merely a vacation, but it is an indicator of the increased attention of the UAE to the concept of work-life balance and worker welfare, for the UAE New Year holiday for private sector With the provision of equal benefits to the workers of the private sector as it is to those of the public sector, the government is cementing a just and inclusive workplace in all industries. There are no witnesses left behind in the celebrations.

The Businesses are already preparing for the UAE New Year holiday for Private sector retail shops, hotels, and entertainment places are all adjusting their schedules and workforce to the day.
