December 31, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: As the city prepares for a record breaking celebration the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for NYE 2026 in Dubai. To ensure the safety of millions of spectator’s heading to Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa major arterial roads and key public transport hubs will undergo significant closures and timing adjustments.

With the world’s eyes fixed on the iconic fireworks and laser display authorities are urging residents & tourists to plan their journeys well in advance to avoid the inevitable gridlock that accompanies the city most anticipated night of the yea

Major Road Closures: Sheikh Zayed Road and Beyond

To facilitate the massive crowds expected for NYE 2026 in Dubai the RTA has confirmed that Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed in both directions. The closure typically begins in the late afternoon on December 31,specifically targeting the stretch between the Trade Centre roundabout and the 2nd Interchange. This move is designed to prioritize pedestrian safety & allow emergency vehicles easy access to the Downtown perimeter.

In addition to the main highway several secondary roads feeding into the Burj Khalifa district will be cordoned off Al Asayel Street & Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard are expected to close as early as 4:00 PM once parking areas reach full capacity. Those planning to drive to NYE 2026 in Dubai celebrations are advised to arrive before 2:00 PM or utilize the extensive “Park and Ride” service set up at Al Wasl and Musallaz.

The Dubai Police have also coordinated with the RTA to deploy over 10000 security personnel and marshals across the city. This massive logistical undertaking ensures that while the heart of the city remains pedestrian only the flow of traffic in surrounding residential areas remains manageable during the peak of NYE 2026 in Dubai.

Metro and Public Transport : Burj Khalifa Station Update

Public transport remains the most efficient way to navigate the city on December 31 However travelers should note that the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will close strictly at 5:00 PM (or earlier if capacity is reached). This measure is a standard safety protocol to prevent overcrowding on the platforms following the main event.

For those attending NYE 2026 in Dubai the Dubai Metro will operate continuously for 40 hours providing a 24 hour service from the morning of December 31 through to the end of January,1. While the Burj Khalifa station will be bypassed during the peak celebration hours commuters are encouraged to use the Business Bay or Financial Centre stations which will remain operational but subject to strict crowd control measures.

To supplement the metro a fleet of over 200 “Green Buses” will be deployed. These dedicated shuttles will transport visitors from the Downtown area to various designated parking zones and metro stations outside the closure zone If you are heading to NYE 2026 in Dubai ensure your Nol card is topped up with at least Dh20 to avoid long queues at the vending machines.

Safety Protocols and Spectator Guidelines

Dubai’s authorities have left no stone unturned to ensure that NYE 2026 in Dubai is a safe and memorable experience for all. To manage the influx of visitors the Downtown area will be divided into specific zones with dedicated entry and exit points for families bachelors and hospitality ticket holders.

Spectators are reminded that the use of private drones is strictly prohibited during the festivities. Furthermore, those wishing to view the fireworks from the waterfront should be aware that certain areas require pre registration via the U By Emaar app or official hospitality bookings.
