UAE 14th January, 2026: The United Arab Emirates has taken a significant step in its higher education services by introducing an automatic degree recognition system for graduates of 34 universities across the country. The project, which is led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), will automate the verification of the qualifications of educational credentials and assist graduates in securing employment, visas, and higher education at a more effective level.
A New Era In Degree Recognition
What the Initiative Does
In the new system, degrees awarded by 34 UAE based universities are automatically realised immediately a student completes his studies. This implies that the graduates do not have to undergo prolonged manual checks before organizations, government agencies or immigration compounds accept their qualifications.
Sustaining Zero Bureaucracy Objectives
The automatic degree recognition system is also one of the larger initiatives of the UAE to go zero bureaucracy – the government strategy aimed at eradicating unnecessary administrative processes and paperwork. The project shortens a lot of red tape to both the graduates and the academic institutions in the sense that direct connection of universities to the recognition system makes the process of recognition much simpler.
Influence On Graduates And The Education Sector
Having immediate and automatic degree recognition once graduated, students can switch to jobs or postgraduates faster. This helps in improving the local and international graduates as they will not be wasting time on unnecessary administration.
With over 25,000 graduates already enjoying automatic degree recognition since the system was launched, it is an early positive uptake and impact in the upper realms of higher education.

Digital Verification: How It Works
The automated recognition system has been combined with the digital tools that provide the possibility of checking the qualifications in real-time. Graduates have an automatic degree recognition status and institutions can be sure of the authenticity of a qualification by seeing a permitted QR code that is connected to the ministry database.
MoHESR is planning to develop the system even more. This involves granting automatic recognition to Emirati students in foreign countries and who study abroad in government-sponsored scholarship programs so that they can access government services without any difficulties regardless of their location of graduation.
Industry And Government Viewpoints
Official Statements
Ahmad Yousuf Al Nasser representing the Higher Education Operations Sector as an Acting Assistant Under-Secretary MoHESR noted the need to connect the universities during the initial stage of the project. He highlighted that the system not only favours students, but also favors institutions as it enhances the changing demand of the society and the labour market.
Labour Market Alignment
Automatic degree recognition not only has an administrative advantage to graduates, but also aids in making sure that the talent pool of the UAE gets more effectively and easily implemented into the labor market, contributing to the economic development and competitiveness.
The Automatic Degree Recognition
The implementation of the automatic recognition system will be a significant digital revolution in the education sector in the UAE. The country is also establishing a new paradigm of providing higher education services in the region by cutting down on bureaucracy and using technology to authenticate academic qualifications in real time. The UAE can streamline its higher education institution system by enabling universities to become a part of a digital verification scheme, which in turn would help facilitate its ability to prepare its workforce, as well as bolster the overall higher learning institution system, with future plans to increase the system further.
