The United Arab Emirates ranks among top five largest investors as the UAE investment in Kazakhstan reaches nearly $1.64 billion, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev confirmed during high-level talks in Abu Dhabi on April 27.
Driving Agenda; Renewables and Energy
Masdar’s 1-gigawatt wind power project in the Zhambyl Region of Kazakhstan was the subject of the talks held with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Sultan Al Jaber. It is one of the largest renewable energy initiatives in Central Asia created by the Abu Dhabi clean energy company, led by Sultan Al Jaber.
Increasing investment in clean energy was the main goal. During the talks, both sides discussed introducing advanced energy storage solutions together with green hydrogen and industrial localization.

UAE Investment; A Strategic Partnership
The discussions also reflected a bilateral relationship that is not limited to its energy origins. It also covers partnership across trade, transport, infrastructure, innovation, artificial intelligence, and food security.
Kosherbayev said during the meeting with Sheikh Abdullah that “Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in the Arab world is the United Arab Emirates,” “Our nations’ cooperation is still growing,” he continued.
Diplomatic Signals
In the continued regional conflict, Kosherbayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s solidarity with the UAE. He also stressed the importance of resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means.
He gave the UAE leadership Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s invitation to attend Eurasian Economic Forum in Astana on May 28-29. This illustrates the active effort by both governments to expand multilateral ties beyond bilateral investments.
