Dubai, June 1, 2025 – As Eid Al Adha approaches, excitement is building across the UAE. The country has declared a four-day public holiday, starting Thursday, June 5, and ending Sunday, June 8. Eid Al Adha itself falls on Friday, June 6, making this year’s celebration especially memorable for families and communities.

Eid Al Adha Prayer Time Across the Emirates

Eid Al Adha is a day of deep spiritual significance for Muslims. One of the most important moments of the day is the Eid Al Adha prayer time. This special prayer brings people together in mosques and open grounds, uniting them in worship and gratitude. The Eid Al Adha prayer time is usually about 20 minutes after sunrise, and each emirate has a slightly different schedule.

  • Sharjah: 5:44 am – 5:51 am

The Eid Al Adha prayer time is a highlight of the festival, and many people arrive early to secure a spot and join in the communal takbir (chants glorifying God).

How Eid Al Adha Prayer Time Shapes the Festivities

On Eid morning, families wake up early and dress in their best clothes. They then head to the mosque or musallah (open prayer ground) to take part in the Eid Al Adha prayer time. The prayer area fills quickly with men, women, and children, all eager to join in the special prayer. The atmosphere is filled with joy and unity as everyone comes together for this important occasion.

After the Eid Al Adha prayer time, the Imam delivers a sermon. This is followed by warm greetings and embraces among family and friends. The rest of the day is filled with celebrations, including festive meals and the traditional sacrifice of livestock. This act honors the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his willingness to obey God. The meat from the sacrifice is shared with family, friends, and those in need, spreading happiness and charity throughout the community.

This year, Eid Al Adha falls on a Friday, which means that both the Eid prayer and the regular Friday (Jumuah) prayer will take place on the same day. The UAE Fatwa Council has clarified that the Eid Al Adha prayer time and the Jumuah prayer must be observed separately and at their respective times. Both prayers are important, and Muslims are encouraged to attend both if possible.

Tips for Eid Al Adha Prayer

  • Arrive early at the mosque or musallah to join the takbir and find a good place.
  • Dress in modest and clean clothes, as this is a day of celebration and respect.
  • Follow the Imam’s instructions during the Eid Al Adha prayer time.
  • Listen to the sermon after the prayer for valuable messages and reminders.
  • Celebrate with family and friends, and remember to share with those in need.
