July 15, 2025 | Dubai, UAE – UAE’s emirate Sharjah traffic fine discount system was launched on July 8. The Sharjah traffic fine discount is aimed at encouraging prompt fine payments but also tightens the hold on serious driving offences. This initiative was announced following a decision by the Sharjah Executive Council during its weekly meeting.

Under the new rules, drivers in the UAE can avail a 35% discount on traffic fines if they are paid within 60 days, or 25% if it’s paid in a year. However, the Sharjah traffic fine discount is not extended to 40 major offences, like drunk driving, from any discount benefits, reinforcing stricter consequences for serious violations.

The 35% discount goes further than just the traffic fine. It also covers any vehicle’s impound period and fees, as well as any late penalties, easing the burden on vehicle owners. However, this leverage doesn’t extend to serious road offences, which have been listed under the Sharjah traffic fine discount and issued by the Sharjah police.

40 serious offences are excluded from the Sharjah traffic fine discount

.

The violators don’t need to visit a service centre or police station to pay the Sharjah traffic fine discount amount. They can be settled online through the Ministry of Interior (MOI) App.

“We’ve always encouraged good behaviour. But this decision is different. It’s more organised, more effective, and sends a stronger message: obey the rules or face the consequences,” said Colonel Abdulrahman Mohammed Khater, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department at Sharjah Police, regarding the implementation of the Sharjah traffic fine discount system.

The person will have to log in using the UAE Pass account and search for the fine in the traffic fine payment option. Entering the details, like Traffic Code (TC), Driving licence, Vehicle plate, or Emirates ID, will get the fine amount with applicable discounts. This can be paid through credit or debit card, and a receipt will be received within minutes.

The new Sharjah traffic fine discount system also holds pedestrians equally accountable with the vision that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
