Dubai, UAE – It is quite a sight and not a little of spectacle to the stargazers of UAE since Jupiter, the heaviest of the planets of our solar system is on the opposite end and the earth occupies the in between position between the planet and the sun and therefore it is seen as larger and brighter in the sky during the night than in any other time of the year.

The skywatchers will be in the best position to observe the rare Jupiter display, the gas giant in the evening and a significant part of the night on a Saturday, January 10, 2026, when the gas giant is to shine brightly over the horizon. And when Jupiter is in opposition it will shine brighter than all the stars in the sky and none of the Moon and Venus will be able to match its brightness as the astronomical guides may predict.

The astronomical experience of the rare Jupiter display has also prompted local organisations to take them out to witness the experience and the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, in Dubai, has also organised a free star gazing night to the people and the amateurs of astronomy. Starting at 6:30 PM and finishing at 9:00 PM, the show will be an entertaining one to all the audiences.

A Chance For Future Discussions In Science

Visitors can expect:

  • Scientists discuss Jupiter and its peculiarities.
  • The Telescope that presented the viewers with a clearer view of the colourful clouds strands and the four largest moons of Jupiter.
  • A nice, informative atmosphere, and definitely being enjoyed by both parents and children.

Jupiter is not a one-night exhibitor during the entire month of January, the planet will be one of the brightest objects of the night sky during the entire month as the planet will soon be emerging when the sun has just set, and the planet will still be visible until the early morning.

Astronomy scientists encourage everyone who may be interested in the universe to venture out at night on Saturday to look to the east sky and have a glimpse of the rare Jupiter display, the magnificent king of the planets making the stage an adventure that will never be forgotten and no special equipment will be required in the process.

If you are an elderly sky watcher, or a sky watcher for the first time, this heavenly rare Jupiter is an exclusive opportunity to feel a part of the marvels of the solar system at the UAE level.

    Places And Areas to Stargaze

These are the hints that can be applied to observe the rare Jupiter display in other places in UAE whether in the city centre or in the deserts.

Urban Areas (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah)

What you can see: Jupiter using the naked eye: bright Jupiter; and Jupiter’s moons by Binoculars.

    Tips

    • Public areas such as beaches or parks away from streetlights can be selected.
    • Switch off lights surrounding you and have a 10-15 minutes break to acclimatise your eyes.
    • All one needs is a pair of binoculars (7×50 or 10×50) to view the four Galilean Jovian moons.

Desert Locations(Al Qudra, Liwa, Al Badayer)

Best for: Splendid pictures and photography.

What you will be viewing: Jupiter and his moons and clouds using a telescope.

      Tips

      • Go before sunset to pitch in.
      • Bring a telescope (at least 70 mm aperture), as well, to see the planets.
      • The eyepiece with the low power must be installed first then the increase in the magnification.
      • Take a dressing, it is colder here at night than in the desert.
      • A red flashlight will be used to save the night vision.

Ideal destinations would be the Al Qudra desert, Liwa desert and the Al Badayer desert.

Coastal Areas (Jumeirah, Corniche, Fujairah Coast)

What you can see: In the high landing evenings Sunny Jupiter.

        Tips

        • Face east or southeast, away from city lights.
        • The fog will tend to blur the sides – field glasses are almost always superior at the telescopes.
        • Late evening is not as constant as after sunset.
        • A Tripod is recommended for photography or phone cameras.

Jumeirah Beach, Abu Dhabi Corniche and the Fujairah Coast are good.

Mountain and Remote North and Areas (Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah)

Best for: Crystal skies and advanced observation.

What you can see: Jupiter’s cloud bands and moon shadows

          Tips:

          • The wind may be strong – hitch down your tripod.
          • The higher it is the less the distortion of the atmosphere.
          • Jupiter will see his bands and moon shadows in a telescope.
          • Always be sure to check the road and weather conditions when traveling.

Go to Ras Al Khaimah Jebel Jais or way out.

Quick Viewing Tips for the rare Jupiter display:

            • Jupiter happens in the evening, and it is observable at night.
            • It will be a planet that will not twinkle.
            • Phone applications such as Sky Guide or Stellarium may be useful in real-time identification.
            • No equipment? Too many eyes Do Jupiter shine not.
