26 Apr 2025, Dubai- India’s eminent biotech company Ayu Life Sciences, has announced the construction of a state-of-the-art Dubai facility for artificial skin. This $9 million investment will be based in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and will revolutionize the artificial skin market in the region. The Dubai facility will help set new standards in advanced wound care and surgical treatments and is expected to meet the growing demand for high-quality health care products across the Middle East and beyond.

Dubai Facility for Artificial Skin: A Major Leap for Healthcare

The artificial skin facility in Dubai has been built in an area of 13500 sq.m, which focuses on manufacturing next-generation solutions on wound care such as skin substitutes, antimicrobial dressings, and surgical products. This structure will be developed in phases. Phase One of this structure is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025, whereas it is expected to complete by 2027.

Ayu Life Sciences will manufacture its flagship products, such as Velgraft-an artificial skin substitute meant for scar-free healing, Velvert-a natural antimicrobial wound dressing, and VelNez-an ear and nasal dressing for post-surgical recovery. These products are backed by 22 global patents, using eco-friendly natural materials aimed at minimal environmental impact.

The facility in Dubai was established in response to high global demand for advanced products for wound care. According to forecasts, the artificial skin market is expected to increase from $3.1 billion in 2024 to $5.3 billion by 2032. By establishing this site, Ayu Life Sciences aims to place high-quality, sustainable solutions in the hands of patients in the Middle East and worldwide.

Expanding Innovation and Access in the Middle East


The Dubai facility for artificial skin is not just about manufacturing. It is about expanding access to innovative healthcare solutions. Ayu Life Sciences already exports to more than 20 countries from its base in Delhi. Now, with the Dubai facility for artificial skin, the company will be able to reach even more patients and healthcare providers in the region.

Dr. Rajan Datt, Managing Director of Ayu Life Sciences, said this new Dubai artificial skin facility is a major milestone for the company. He revealed that they were thrilled about their flagship products reaching more patients across the Middle East and all around the world because, besides contributing to such healthcare improvements, the facility will also continue to support ongoing research in regenerative medicine, including diabetes therapy clinical studies and therapies for nerve injuries.

Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Parks & Zones at DP World GCC, noted that Jafza’s advanced infrastructure and perfect strategic location will act as excellent launchpads for innovators such as Ayu Life Sciences. He pointed out that the Dubai facility for artificial skin reinforced Dubai’s growing stature as a global hub for healthcare and advanced medical manufacturing.

The Dubai facility for artificial skin will cater to an already numerous throng of over 800 manufacturing companies setting their base in this top international trading hub, Jafza. It adds to the burgeoning ecosystem of global innovators aiming to address future access scenarios regarding next-generation healthcare solutions while helping Dubai’s vision of creating a leader in medical innovation.
