RTA Adds New Direct Route to Ease Rush-Hour Travel

September 3, 2025 | Dubai, UAE: Daily travel on the Dubai Metro Red Line just got easier. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new direct service between Centrepoint Station and Al Fardan Exchange Station. The aim is simple, less crowding, faster journeys, and a smoother ride for the thousands of commuters who rely on the metro every day.

A Relief for Commuters

Anyone who has used the Dubai Metro Red Line during peak hours knows how busy it can get. Long queues, packed trains, and crowded platforms are common sights, especially in the mornings and evenings. The new Centrepoint–Al Fardan route is designed to ease this pressure. By giving passengers another direct option, it spreads out the flow of people and creates more space for everyone.

For students heading to university, office workers rushing to meetings, or families travelling together, this change is a welcome relief. Fewer delays and less pushing through crowds mean more relaxed and predictable journeys.

More Direct Routes, Less Stress

The new service is not the first of its kind. RTA had already introduced direct trains from Centrepoint to Expo City Dubai and from Centrepoint to Life Pharmacy Station. With Al Fardan Exchange now added, the Dubai Metro Red Line offers three direct routes, giving passengers more flexibility.

This means fewer people will need to switch trains at Jebel Ali, a station that often gets extremely busy. Instead, they can hop on a train at Centrepoint and stay seated until their destination. It saves time, cuts stress, and makes the metro ride much smoother.

Early Results Show Promise

The idea of adding direct routes was first tested in August 2024. According to RTA, the results were clear: less crowding on platforms, shorter waiting times, and smoother operations. The Dubai Metro Red Line also became more energy-efficient, since trains were running in a way that reduced unnecessary trips.

To make the shift easier for passengers, RTA placed extra staff at stations when the service first launched. These teams helped guide travellers, answered questions, and ensured that people boarded the correct trains. This human touch made the change easier to accept and understand.

What Passengers Should Keep in Mind

With the new system in place, trains on the Dubai Metro Red Line now go to several destinations, Expo City Dubai, UAE Exchange, Life Pharmacy Station, and Al Fardan Exchange. Passengers are encouraged to look at the real-time screens at stations to make sure they board the right train for their journey.

It may take a few days for regular commuters to adjust their routines, but the benefits are clear. Instead of changing trains midway, many passengers will now enjoy a direct ride to their stop. For daily travellers, this means more time saved and less stress during the busiest hours of the day.

A Step Toward the Future

The Dubai Metro Red Line is not just about moving people from one station to another, it is part of the city’s long-term vision for sustainable, smart transport. As Dubai’s population grows, so does the demand on public transport. By adding shorter and targeted routes, the RTA is making sure the system can keep up with future needs.

The move also highlights Dubai’s focus on comfort and efficiency. Instead of waiting for problems to get worse, the RTA is taking proactive steps to improve the metro experience. This approach ensures that residents and visitors alike can rely on the metro as a safe, quick, and convenient way to travel across the city.

Dubai Metro Red Line

The new direct route on the Dubai Metro Red Line is more than just a small adjustment, it’s a big step toward making daily travel easier. By easing crowding, reducing delays, and giving commuters more options, RTA has shown its commitment to keeping Dubai’s transport system world-class.

For passengers, this means a journey that feels less like a daily struggle and more like a reliable routine. The change may seem simple, but for thousands of commuters, it will make every metro ride smoother, faster, and more comfortable.
