November 23 marks the seventh year Dubai Run happens, and thousands show up for something you can’t do any other day: jogging down Sheikh Zayed Road without dodging cars. This free event literally shuts down the city’s main highway and turns it into a giant running track where families, serious runners, and casual joggers all run side by side. Spots fill fast because where else can you run past Burj Khalifa, Dubai Opera, Emirates Towers, and Museum of the Future on actual closed roads? Dubai Run Registration opened already, and experienced participants know to sign up early.
Picking Your Distance
Dubai Run Registration happens through DubaiRun.com, and you select your route when you sign up. The 5 km option works for literally everyone: parents with kids, people running for the first time, anyone who wants to jog slowly. You start near the Museum of the Future, run past the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, and finish at Dubai Mall. The terrain is totally flat-nothing steep at all.

The 10km route is for people who actually run regularly. Same starting point but you cross Dubai Canal Bridge, loop around Sheikh Zayed Road properly, and finish at DIFC Gate Building near Emirates Towers. That’s a proper workout.
Getting Your Dubai Run Registration Done
Head to DubaiRun.com and register for free. Straightforward process, basic info, pick your distance. If your child is under 13, you 21+ sign them up. Youth ages 13-21 can sign themselves up, but require your permission.
Once signed up, pick up your bib and shirt from Zabeel Park’s 30×30 Fitness Village between November 3-22. Times vary: 4pm-11pm weekdays, noon-11pm Fridays, 8am-11pm weekends. Don’t forget this part, you literally cannot run without your bib. Safety and ID reasons.
Race Day Details
Start time is 6:30am November 23. Doors close at 8:00am so showing up early matters. Various time slots start from 4:00am if you want early entry. When you do Dubai Run Registration, you pick your start time preference.

Take Dubai Metro because the road closures mess up driving. 5km runners use World Trade Centre Metro. 10km runners hop off at Emirates Towers Metro. Make sure you have AED 15+ on your NOL card so you don’t waste time buying tickets. Parking exists but gets slammed. Metro is genuinely easier.
What You Actually Need?
- Bring your official bib and tee that you picked up before race day. Wear shoes that feel good and breathable workout clothes.
- Early morning is cool but warms up fast. Sunscreen still helps because daylight moves quick.
- Water stations line the routes so you don’t need to carry gallons. Medical people are around if something happens.

Everyone comes, ultra-marathon people, joggers doing it casually, families with young kids doing the 5 km. Strollers work on the 5 km only. People of Determination get dedicated support and volunteers. Kids under 13 need someone watching them. Bring your dog though, they’re not allowed.
Last year over 278,000 people ran. Dubai Run Registration lets you join that massive community doing something special. This happens once yearly, Sheikh Zayed Road only closes for this. That’s the whole appeal. Families don’t just run, they cheer from sides, catch entertainment along the way, feel that energy of everyone moving together. Kids go crazy watching thousands of people.
