The Story Behind Fragrance World’s Founder
Early Life and Challenges faced by Poland Moosa
The founder, Poland Moosa, was born in Kerala, India, in 1959 during a devastating smallpox epidemic. As an infant, he was announced unlikely to survive by a traditional healer, but his mother’s determination and courage saved his life. This extraordinary starting laid the foundation for the man who would later set up a global perfume brand.
From Humble Starting to Entrepreneurial Vision
Moosa left home at the age of 9, following a disagreement and started working in various small jobs in Mysuru, including as a cleaning boy in a restaurant. Despite losing jobs due to his short stature and young age, he persevered. In 1977, he arrived in Dubai by sea and worked as a domestic helper before learning the basics of trade in a Deira shoe shop, in the end leading to the formation of the brand.
Poland Journey Opens Doors for Fragrance World’s Growth
In 1988, Moosa launched his first ever trading enterprise, “Al Ghuroob,” and later traveled to Poland in search of new opportunities. That journey transformed his business and life. His success in Poland led to the nickname “Poland Moosa,” which was adopted by him with pride. From there, Fragrance World expanded across Europe and into key markets such as Russia and Bulgaria.

Multilingual Talent Drives Fragrance World’s Global Reach
Despite having just a third-grade education, Poland Moosa can speak more than 15 languages. This unique skill helped Fragrance World build and boost strong relationships across international markets and strengthen its presence worldwide.
Fragrance World Emerges as a Global Perfume Leader
In 2004, Moosa formally established Fragrance World as his own perfume company. Over the years, the company introduced the globally successful brand “French Avenue” and later set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Now, Fragrance World produces hundreds of thousands of perfume bottles regularly and offers more than 4,000 variants of perfume, cementing its status as one of the world’s largest producers of fragrance.
