Free travel tickets for released inmates under a Khalifa Foundation–Pure Gold Group collaboration are helping thousands reunite with families, restart their lives and rebuild their futures.

UAE Humanitarian Initiative

A remarkable humanitarian initiative of providing free travel tickets for released inmates aimed at helping people facing financial challenges in returning back to their home countries after completing their sentences in the UAE has started by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. This initiative is implemented in collaboration with Pure Gold Group, and majorly focuses on dignity, social reintegration and stability by providing free travel tickets for released inmates who are not able to bear repatriation costs on their own.

The programme highlights the UAE’s broader commitment to humanitarian values and social responsibility, making sure that individuals who have completed their legal obligations are given an opportunity to return to their home, reunite with their families and rebuild their lives in a structured and supportive manner.

According to Mohamed Haji Alkhoori, the Director-General of the Khalifa Foundation, the collaboration highlights the Foundation’s approach to building effective partnerships that deliver tangible social impact.

Alkhoori said, “Our partnership with Pure Gold Group shows our commitment to building effective and meaningful collaborations that bring together the humanitarian and private sectors through an integrated and well-considered approach,”. A critical humanitarian needs meanwhile ensuring efficiency and sustainability in implementation is addressed, by utilizing the strengths of both the sectors.

 Family Stability and Reunification Support

The provision of free travel tickets for released inmates allows beneficiaries to return to their home countries safely and connecting again with their families and communities that play an important role in their reintegration as well as rehabilitation. The main objective of the initiative is to help released inmates acquire psychological as well as social stability.

Alkhoori highlighted that the initiative supports more than just physical travel. He also said that it helps released inmates reunite with their families and communities, supports their social and psychological stability, and helps them to restart their lives as productive and contributing members of their societies.

Pure Gold Group played a vital role in funding and supporting the travel ticket programme. Philanthropist Firoz bin Gulam Hussain, Chairman and Founder of Pure Gold Group, described the humanitarian motivation behind the company’s involvement.

He said, “Our focus on helping released inmates return safely to their home countries stems from a genuine humanitarian responsibility,”. He added that the initiative helps restore a sense of security, preserve dignity, and provide people an opportunity for a new start after incarceration.

Measurable Impact of the Initiative

The initiative got remarkable results during 2025. The total number of released inmates that were helped under the broader programme during the year 2025 were 2,821. Of these, the number of individuals benefited from Pure Gold Group’s travel ticket support were 1,983, getting free travel tickets for released inmates as part of effort of reintegration.

These figures highlight the effectiveness of the initiative, showing how targeted support can identify a specific humanitarian gap meanwhile delivering measurable outcomes.

The Khalifa Foundation follows a clear, structured and organized methodology in implementing its initiatives.
