Arsenal vs Burnley Result

Arsenal got the job done against Burnley. Kai Havertz’s bullet header in the 36th minute earned a 1-0 win at the Emirates on May 18, 2026.

Bukayo Saka’s corner did the damage on Premier League Matchday 37. It wasn’t pretty, but nobody in red cared at full time. The result puts Mikel Arteta’s side five points clear with 82 points. For Burnley, it’s official. They’re down. Championship football next season.

First Half of Arsenal vs Burnley

You could feel the tension before kickoff. Arsenal vs Burnley had that end-of-season bite. Arteta stuck with his 4-3-3. Eze and Rice ran the middle, trying to drag Burnley’s block apart.

Burnley came for a point. Maybe a smash-and-grab. They sat deep, five at the back, and waited for Mejbri or Anthony to run in behind.

Saka had other ideas. He cooked Lucas Pires every time he got the ball. That’s how Arsenal got their corners. And that’s how they got their goal.

Before that, Mejbri flew into Eze and saw yellow at 27’. Fair tackle? The referee didn’t think so. Arsenal hit the post twice and kept knocking.

Burnley had nothing going forward. At the break, it was 1-0. But it didn’t feel safe. Not with this Arsenal vs Burnley scoreline.

Arsenal vs Burnley Turning Point

Set pieces win titles. Ask anyone at the Emirates right now.

36 minutes in, Saka stood over a corner on the right. He’d already beaten Pires three times in ten minutes. This time he didn’t need to. He whipped it near post, hard and flat.

Havertz had started his run early. He wanted it more than the two Burnley defenders around him. One leap, one header, back of the net.

That was the turning point in Arsenal vs Burnley. Until then, Burnley looked comfortable in their shell. After the goal they had to come out. They never really did.

That one moment of quality from Saka and Havertz ended up deciding the whole game. The rest was just survival.

Arsenal vs Burnley Key Moments

36’ — Goal. Arsenal 1-0 Burnley. Saka’s corner, Havertz’s header. Simple. Deadly.

66’ — Havertz picks up a yellow. Cynical, but smart. Stopped a Burnley break before it started.

72’ — Arteta rolls the dice. On come Gyökeres, Lewis-Skelly, and Hincapié. All at once. Kill the game.

90’ — It gets messy. Flemming and Pires both booked as Burnley lose their cool.

90’+7 — Whistle blows. Arsenal had to survive a VAR check for a penalty and hit the bar twice earlier. Seven minutes of stoppage felt like seventy.

Arsenal had seven shots on target. Burnley had zero. But the Arsenal vs Burnley result stayed 1-0 because Arsenal couldn’t kill it off. That made for a horrible watch if you’re an Arsenal fan. Beautiful if you love drama.

Player Performance Section

Havertz was the difference. He scored the winner, sure. But he also ran himself into the ground, pressed like a madman, and took a yellow for the team. That’s your man of the match.

Saka ran the game. Pires won’t sleep tonight. Every dangerous moment in Arsenal vs Burnley came from Saka’s foot. Corner, cross, cutback — he was unplayable.

Rice and Eze did the dirty work. Quiet, but vital. For Burnley, Mejbri tried. He got booked at 27’ and then disappeared. Nobody else showed up. When your team has zero shots on target, you don’t get a best performer. That’s football.

What Arsenal vs Burnley Means for Premier League Title Race

So what does Arsenal vs Burnley mean? Everything. Arsenal move to 82 points, five clear.

That’s four league wins in a row. One more and the 22-year wait ends. Arteta said it best: “We had to suffer in the end, but the goal from Kai from the set-piece gave us the cushion we needed to fight until the 98th minute.”

Arsenal win the Premier League title tomorrow if City drop points to Bournemouth. If not, it’s all on Sunday. Arsenal vs Crystal Palace. At home. For the title. Burnley go down. Their plan now is the Championship.
