iPhone 18 Pro: Smaller Dynamic Island and 2nm A20 Chip Set to Redefine Performance

The iPhone 18 series is still a few months away from launch, but early leaks and rumours are already coming out. The iPhone 18 lineup, especially the Pro models, is expected to bring some big internal upgrades, even if the outside design looks mostly the same.

A More Immersive Display

One of the main changes could be a smaller Dynamic Island. Apple is said to be working on reducing the size of the Face ID sensor system, which would make the cutout smaller and give users more screen space. Some rumours even say it might turn into a punch-hole design, but most reports still suggest it will just be a smaller version of the current Dynamic Island.

The display sizes are expected to stay the same as before:
• iPhone 18 Pro: 6.3-inch LTPO OLED
• iPhone 18 Pro Max: 6.9-inch LTPO OLED

The 2nm Performance Revolution

Inside the phone: the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to come with the new A20 chip. This chip may be built using a 2-nanometer process, which is a big improvement in technology. It should make the phone faster and more power efficient, which could also improve battery life a lot.

Professional-Grade Camera Upgrades

The camera system might also get some upgrades. One of the rumoured features is a variable aperture for the main camera. This would let the camera adjust how much light comes in, helping improve photos in different lighting conditions, similar to DSLR cameras.

There are also talks about better telephoto lenses that could improve zoom photos, especially in low light.

Expected Pricing & New Colour Options

While official pricing remains under wraps, early indicators suggest Apple may maintain its current pricing structure. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro debuted at AED 5,950 – 6,000, with the Pro Max variant starting at  AED 6,600 – 6,700.

On the design front, Apple is expected to move towards a more unified aesthetic. Following the widespread praise of ‘Cosmic Orange,’ the 18 Pro is rumoured to introduce a striking new signature colour potentially a rich Burgundy or a Deep Red.

Expected Roadmap

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2026, while the regular iPhone 18 model may follow a slightly different timeline. Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be a big upgrade, especially in performance and camera features, even if the design does not change much.
