IWPG Global region 2 meeting

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2, with Regional Director Seo-Yeon Lee as its regional head, visited the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Headquarters in New York. They took part in a strategic dialogue in the East Lounge on 14th March with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups of Tanzania, John A.K. Jingu, on women’s peacebuilding and the achievement of sustainable peace.

He showed interest in IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education, women’s economic independence, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention, conflict prevention and peacekeeping, and the 2025 International Women’s Peace Conference to be held in Korea in September. He positively evaluated the possibility of collaboration.

Dr. John A.K. Jingu stated, “Women are no longer victims of conflict, but key actors in creating peace. We will build a practical cooperative relationship with IWPG to implement sustainable peace.”

IWPG’s Global Impact

IWPG Secretary-General NaHyung Jeon emphasized, “Women in Tanzania must actively participate in policy-making and legislative processes. Through the expansion of IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education and peace capacity-building programs for women leaders, we must enable women to play a central role in peace.”
